Default Fiber Optic Wires

Hey guys!

A co-worker of mine was wondering if there is a different in the brand types of Fiber Optic cables or are they all a scam like monster trying to sell higher ones with "more" this or that to make it sound alot better than it really is. He usually comes to be for questions about TV's and electronics but I am clueless when it comes to audio. So I know all you guys in this site have helped me numerous times before. Just getting some info to relay back to him about what constitutes a good fiber optics cable cause he is planning on setting up his sound system soon. Thanks for the help guys!

As long as you buy a fibre optical cable with good connectors and a sturdy sleeve, you should be fine. It's all up to the build quality which often runs independent of the price. Optical cables can be damaged easier than other cables, and that can impact their performance. You can find a good one without spending a lot of money.

I agree. Unless you have very long runs or are running an audiophile setup (probably not), a regular Monoprice cable should do just fine.

i got mine on Amazon. they're 91 cents each, yep $0.93. i started reading all of the reviews and stopped after 15. everyone said that they work just as good as "name brand" ones like monster cable which cost like 30 bucks. i bought 2 and it came out to be like $7.50 shipped to my door

Intel's Light Peak technology uses lasers and fiber optics to transfer data to and from PCs and other devices.

I still perfer hdmi if they can do 100Gbps hdmi
