Default BOYCOTT!!! Movies to avoid! PARAMOUNT, DREAMWORKS & UNIVERSAL releases...

This morning, I heard an advertisment on the radio for Cloverfield ("a Paramount Picture") and I decided I would create a thread based on boycotting all movies released by HD-DVD supporting studios: Paramount, Dreamworks & Universal.

Each week, I will update this thread with new releases to AVOID!

Also, I would like to preface this by saying that the titles listed below may be very good films and I feel bad for the people involved with making these movies. But whether or not the movie is good or bad, that's NOT what this thread is about. This is about not supporting studios that don't care about us, the consumers. As soon as each respective studio announces support for Blu-Ray, I will remove their movies from the list. This list will include theatrical releases and DVD releases (we want to make sure they don't get ANY of our money).

Hopefully, this list will serve as a reminder for Blu-Ray supporters to avoid supporting HD-DVD studios.

Titles released from Jan. 15 through Jan. 21.

DVD Release(s) to avoid:
  • Dragonlance - Paramount Pictures
  • Sabrina, The Teenage Witch: The Third Season - Paramount Pictures
  • The Rockford Files: Season Five - Universal Studios
Theatrical Release(s) to avoid:
  • Cloverfield - Paramount Pictures

I will not support those studios until they become blu only and then I will still wait awhile to punish them for being jack@$$e$.

While I appreciate your interest and passion you do realize that curretnly the total Hidef media market is less then 3%, of those, how many do you think come here?

So you cost them about $1500 in sales?

Sponsor a child in Africa if you want to make a difference!!

These little boycotts have been around since HDM was released. They don't do much since the numbers who actually don't see the films or buy the DVD are so few.

It would actually make more sense to see the film in theaters but avoid the home release on HD DVD or DVD. That way Universal and Paramount could say "thats strange, home video sales aren't meeting our predictions based on theatrical revenue"

I'd rather not give them ANY of my money. Also, online initiatives CAN work. Do you think organized buy-days didn't work for Blu-Ray to win EVERY week last year?

Yea this one is tuff since I am a huge J.J. Abrams fan.

I love Alias, but LOST is the greatest show ever.

Sorry, but I’m not boycotting movies I want to see, I won’t buy the dvd or anything but I’m still going to the theaters.

These are the movies I'm interested in seeing if the previews look good.

Iron Man
Star Trek XI
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of Crystal Skull
The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor
Hellboy II: The Golden Army
The Incredible Hulk

Hopefully the companies will go Blu-ray before theses are release.

I wouldn't worry about it Mystik. It'll eventually be out on Blu-ray anyway. It's likely to look better on blu-ray than in the theater for that matter.

Hopefully they will, but going to see their movies isn't giving them any incentive to change.

It is so strange paramount was always one of my favorite studios now I just wana tell them to go f**k themselves. Of all the studios I think they have behaved the worst .The way they dropped bluray had no class at all. How we are seeing the same thing from hddvd they know the war is over and the are still trying to suck in people who don't know any better.

Well not seeing their movies don’t give them any incentive to make possible sequels.
