That is a Toshiba press release, not an article. They added a couple "quotes" and an "author" to make it look like an article, but it is the Toshiba statement almost word for word.

They call that "puff copy" in the trade.

This writer sure knows how to work the shovel and pile on the horse s***. The price drops in players are not significant enough to get the average person to suddenly invest in high definition media. That does not even take into account all the negative press that HD DVD has been receiving from numerous high-profile internet news sources. Anyone that knows of the High Definition home media formats knows that HD DVD is failing on a grand scale.

What I do not understand is how they can call WB's move to exclusivity a similar setback to what Blu-ray experienced when Paramount/Dreamworks moved to HD DVD exclusivity. At that point in time it barely tipped studio shares to half and half. With Warner Brother's move to exclusivity the studio shares are now overwhelmingly in Blu-ray's favor.

HD DVD is also claiming outrageous numbers with their skewed market statistics. This article is utter nonsense.

How can Toshiba be 1st place in player sales with 50% marketsh- they don't count Sony's PS3? Then why do they get to count their Black Friday and post-Warner firesales, and units sold as upconverting DVD players, doorstops, etc?

This article must really be bad. The surf-control firewall at my business would not even allow me to access that link!

it makes me angry that Toshiba doesn't see that this is the end. To delay the inevitable just means slowing down high definition adoption. We all get screwed in the end.

Toshiba points out that the Blu-ray experienced a similar set-back last year when Paramount/Dreamworks announced that it was backing HD DVD exclusively.
First paragraph states the above, which is totally incorrect.

One was a setback, the other ended the format war.

They aren't going to accept defeat, they are going to spin their propaganda and outright lie if they have to but trust me this format war is far from over.

Well, at least it's a new twist on the same old article from Tosh. How many ways to put a spin on the news!

It may not be over for Toshiba until they're shut of their stock, but in the real world it's over.
