Shocking.

3.5 stars overall. "for fans only"

WTF IS THIS BS? They rated the high def extras, 1 star, the online blogging feature.

PROBLEM?

Cant use it right now until the updates.

... "Well review it and update the rating when we can use it"

2 star movie overall? WTF?

Good lord.. at least when they review blu rays, try to NOT make your bias against blu rays show..

just once.. please?

Its mind boggling to me that people still think Bracke gives low scores on some blu rays because of some imaginary bias. More often than not he's right on the money and Lionsgate is not exactly the best when it comes to quality transfers.

I know I can't speak for anyone else, but I couldn't stand any of the Saw movies and the online blogging is IMO a stupid feature... but to each his own and I respect that. hell I loved Idlewild and a LOT of people hate that movie.

It's a slapdash assembly line torture porn film that wasn't very good in its first iteration. 2 stars isn't bias. If you're notice the technical categories are just fine

He's right. If you haven't watched the first 3, it's not for you. If you enjoy it, good for you, go buy it and enjoy it. There's hundreds of movies out there that I like, but i would never claim are "good'

Take it for what it is a review. All of our ideas of a good BD are going to be different. Me personally, I thought the first Saw was good, the rest were pointless in my opinion. If you are a fan and are upset I understand and you are within your rights to be. However at least respect that it is HIS opinion and he is entitled to it. Not every BD that is reviewed here is favorable either. A bad movie is a bad movie, period, regardless of the format.

Who cares what a reviewer thinks of the movie overall.

I only ever look at the PQ and AQ ratings on any site anyway.

Saw IV got 4/5 for PQ and 4.5/5 for AQ.

That's good!

I agree. Just read the review and it is not biased at all. The movie is not for everyone. The overall rating of 3.5 is pretty good, and the film received very good marks in PQ and AQ. I was buying it no matter what, so I am pleased with the AQ and PQ part of the review.

Frankly I agree with him with the rating for the special feature. What good is it if nobody can use it? What he wrote about it is fair.

If he didn't like the movie, he didn't like the movie. You will never find a reviewer that rates every movie the same way you would. It's one thing to challenge a reviewer on their ratings of the technical aspects of the disc, but I find it strange that so many people bash a reviewer because they didn't like a movie, or the reviewer liked a movie others didn't.

While I agree that his review or his comment "only for fans" may be accurate, he should not have given the extras a 1 if he does not have the equipment for proper playback. I have a hard time seeing any bias though when he gives the PQ and AQ good scores.

A bad review for a the movie itself does not show bias.

They hated Good Luck Chuck (which I am avoiding like the plague)

And I'm not a fan of the Saw series...so I wouldn't give the movie a high review either.

I think it's perfectly logical for them to say they will review the Profile 2.0 features when they acquire a 2.0 player...

p.s. as a previous poster on this thread mentioned. It got high scores for both video and audio, and honestly 3 stars for supplements isn't that bad either. We'll see what they think when they get the profile 2.0 player (hopefully we get a PS3 firmware update for that soon)

The online blogging feature is actually really, really cool. They showed it in action at CES, and it basically has little bubbles come up while you are watching the movie. So the director was basically talking about his inspiration for a scene, making jokes, and it was funny and insightful at the same time.

I agree. I liked the first Saw movie, but it went downhill after that. Saw 4 just plain sucked..its like they were trying to hard to carry on the series by coming up with new people that are involved.

the only thing ok about the movie was how he got started doing it. It was also overly graphic to the point of rediculousness. Why do we need to see every little detail of a brain autopsy? And for crying out loud I didn't want to see the old man's penis for more than 1 second.

IMHO a Review of DVD and HDM should NEVER include a Quotation from the movie itself. Those people aren't professional review and if you want to see review of the movie itself they are TONS on the net (rottentomatoes for example).

I personnally do review, and talk a little as i can about the movie, i don't quote the movie and it doesn't average in

The only thing i want from a HDM review are : PQ, SQ, Extra...

I have not seen Saw IV yet as I would much rather watch it at home in Blu-Ray versus going to the theaters. I thought the first movie was great and a novel approach. The second movie was real bad and I thought the third installment got better. I am looking forward to seeing IV sometime next week.

For those of you that do not like the series or the fourth movie, be happy that Saw V is scheduled for Halloween of this year.

They are turning this franchise into Friday the 13th or Halloween.
