Default A history of bad news for HDDVD

Anyone have a list comprising of all the bad news regarding HDDVD,

Events such as, Onkyo scrapping their HDDVD player, WB defecting, Digital Playground dumping the format, Amir "Stepping down" then "Retiring" etc etc. since inception.

It'd be nice to see it all in chronological order all in one place.

I'll second that request. Even just one from the last month or so. And conversely, find one actual negative press release about someone dropping Blu-ray or discontinuing it or stop selling it or recommendation telling buyers to choose HD DVD over blu-ray in the last month or two.

Hmmm, I thought at some point somebody point something together like that here on the forums... I'll have to do some searching. Obviously it wouldn't have the last couple of weeks, but they could be added in.

If not I'll start a short list here with some things I know and others can add.

1. Warner to go Blu-ray exclusive in May
2. Kim Komando now recommends Blu-ray
3. Talk of Universal and Paramount adding Blu-ray support
4. Microsoft no speaking out about HD DVD any more
5. Blockbuster to stop stocking HD DVD in most stores

First on the list time-wise would have to be when Toshiba found out that Sony and Philiips were creating a hi-def format and decided they didn't want to join them.

The PS3 was launched

Summed up the entire history for ya. All the other stuff is piddly-beans. As much as "they" don't want to admit it, a game console decided the home theater format war.

Kim Komando is a radio talk show host. She talks about computers and electronics mostly if I am correct. Usually what I have heard from her was basic knowledge that most people who own a computer should already know. I am not interested in her show, but she does give away a lot of goodies sometimes. (My dad listens to the radio a lot.)

Borders returning their HD DVD stock because it was not selling.

There was no crowd in the HD DVD section at CES.

HD DVD had to cancel their press conference because of Warner announcement.

HD DVD players have been popping up on Ebay like zits on a teenager's face.

Heck, getting a PS3 was the only reason I ordered an HDTV. Before then, I didn't see the point since I'd just get a couple cable channels, but now I've got movies!
