Default Does Surround Sound make a differance?

My bedroom isnt very big, and im not rich by any standards, I have a 32" Vizio so that shows im on a budget. Should I get a surround sound system?

I've been looking for months for a decent surround sound system as well but they all cost an-arm-and-a-leg. Your best bet would be to save your money to about $1000 and you'll get a decent system that'll last a long time unlike those cheap ones. Last night I bought a Bose 321 system and I'm getting ready to take it back tomorrow because it's too complicated and not user-friendly with the PS3. I recommend you getting something simple thats easy to hook up with your PS3 or blu-ray player.

Get something with a stand-alone receiver and with some speakers. The receiver I got already had an installed dvd player inside of it and thats not what I wanted. Anyways, good luck with your search

I bought this not too expensive system thats in my sig. I am on a very tight budget being a college student and all and even though it isn't a top of the line system or even close to it, and doesn't even use HDMI, but it makes a massive difference on both movies and games.

On parts of movies where people just talk there isn't much of a difference but I watched Die Hard: With A Vengeance last night, and I almost fell out of my chair a couple times because my small bedroom shook.

The setup cost me 200 dollars and is more than I could have hoped for that price. It wasn't hard to set up, and I was able to hide 90 percent of the wires under my rug.

So, in short even if you go with a cheapo set up like I did it makes a massive difference.

Yes. Surround sound matters a great deal. It can make or break an experience of watching a film. The 32" Vizio is not bad, in my opinion. The sound will bring your TV to life, no doubt.

For xmas I got a pair of Polk Audio Fxi A4s. They are surround sound speakers. All I can say about surround sound is that it adds another dimension to your sound.

Dude look at my sig. I have the 32" Vizio which is a awsome tv. I recommend a surround system for your Standard DVDs. Because when I bought the Vizio I found out it has low sound quality through AV. On the PS3 with Blu-rays though it has great sound so if your going to be watching a lot more Blu-rays now days, I would save the money for now.

I was using a cheap Logitech 5.1 speaker set until I switched to hdmi. Now maybe i'll get an Onkyo set. But i'm sure you can use the Sony Bravia htib. One is under $300. They make a difference i'd say. CC sells them.

Cool

Check my sig. I saved a little and got it. It costed me about $339 and it is great. Its like watching a movie for the first time. It has 3 HDMI in and One out, and it is not just passthrough.
Check it out. Its only $359

Hell yes it makes a bigger difference than having a huge TV to me at least. The surround sound i have is only down in my bedroom (small room).

I think that everyone will tell you to save up and get a really good receiver, that is step one. You can buy decent speakers as well to get started and then upgrade. Don't waste money though buying a low end receiver and waste your money knowing you will want to upgrade soon.
Investment spending.

For a small BEDROOM.... AN I REPEAT "SMALL BEDROOM" I would suggest a hometheater in a box. You can get them now for around $99 but I would suggest getting one in the $200 to $400 range and make sure it has a optical input and dolby and dts decoding. I have a Jwin surround sound system for my bedroom that I got for around $150 a few years back and the only complaint that I have about it is that it lacks DTS Decoding.

If you want cheap, and probably enough for a small room, just get those 5.1 PC speakers. I think there are some with optical input.

But if you want real home surround system, cheap is not an option to me.

Anyway, the simple answer is, YES. Even when you ask this 10 years ago, the answer is still YES for surround sound.
