Default Help-No surround sound

Hi,
I'm not all that familar with electronics and in desperate need of help.

I have a Sharp LC-42D64U TV, a PS3 and an Onkyo HT-SR800.

The problem is that before I bought my PS3, I had my PS2 connected to my system and the surround sound worked just fine for both the TV and PS2.

I had my future son-in-law connect my PS3 using HDMI cables and now I get surround sound from the PS3 but nothing when I'm watching TV. The front right speaker works and that's it.

Any ideas on what the problem might be or how I can reconnect my system for the surround sound to work regardless on what I'm watching. I would really appreciate it.

**Can't ask my son-in-law to help because they live too far away**

Thanks in advance

Sounds like a loose cable connection right there. Check to see if it is indeed loose or just needs to be replaced. Trace the cable and switch (from White/Black and Red to Red and White/Black). If the audio comes from the LEFT SPEAKER this time around, that means you need to replace the cable. Don't buy expensive cables; cheap ones are available for less than US$10.

I have surround sound when I'm using the PS3 with no problems, so I would guess that it's not a bad connection with the speaker cables. I only have the right front speaker that sound comes out of when I have the tv on. So I baffled as to what the problem could be.

I think I"m going to reconnect the system the way I had it before and that was to run a component cable from the PS3 to the receiver and the video part of the cable going to the tv. Also, I have an HDMI cable running from the receiver to the tv.

How do you connect your TV to the audio system? Is this via a red and white stereo cable. If this is the case, as pointed out previously, the problem could be in this connection.

Tell us how the problem was rectified. That way, other people can know the solution.

When my son-in-law hooked the system up he accidently loosened one of the cables than ran from the Comcast Box to the Receiver. The cable was pushed in tight and now everything is working perfect.
