Default Will OPPO Digital have a Blu-ray player soon? (Update: Player announced!)

A friend of mine got the latest Oppo DVD Player and it provides a very nice picture. I was just wondering if Oppo is in the process of developing a Blu Ray player? I bet it would be spectacular.

Id think that they've been watching from the sidelines to see what happens. Maybe as we are heading towards the end, they'll know consider it.

They have two options, either reduce their upconvert prices and get more mainstream, or produce a nice BD player.

Sitting where they are at right now is not a good spot down the road.

Oppo is a Chinese player that's had better hardware put into it. They don't develop players, they order them on spec.

When you see Chinese players out there, Oppo will have one.

Thumbs up OPPO going Blu

Oppo going Blu

This should help Blu-Ray reach the Joe Six Pack audience (probably will be inexpensive):

This is great news!!! Oppo makes terrific products and their players are very reasonably priced. This should help make Blu-ray players even more affordable down the road. The news keeps getting better and better.

Great too read. Everybody in the office keeps asking me when Blu-ray players are going to go down in price.. Blu needs a $200-$250 player.

Amazing news...this company has always had a stellar track record. I might pick one up to replace my PS3.

With the Funai and the OPPO competing against each other... I would be SHOCKED if a sub 199$ player could not be had this coming Black Friday 2008

Actually... my expetations are for one day only 149$ door crasher Blu-Ray players on Black Friday and then 199$ from then on until Xmas

THE FUTURE IS BLU

Oppo makes some of the best upconverting players on the market. This should be a good move.

I also recently discovered that the DAC they use in their higher-end players (still under $200) make for REALLY good CD playback. Almost makes me wish I hadn't sold mine.

Oppo makes a good region free player too. Who knows everybody screaming about a region free Blu-Ray player just might've had their prayers answered.
