Theres a small shopping complex on nelson street (Mongkok) near the mongkok computer centre that has about 4-5 shops that only sell blu-rays.
You need to go down a flight of stairs from street level to get to them, it's quite hard to see. I only found it by accident becasue i saw some blu-ray posters in the entrance and decided to venture downstairs. Has a lot of US blu-ray as well and some of the best prices i found in Hong kong Theres also a few cd/dvd shops behind the market stalls in Tung choi street (womans street) that sell blu-rays, just follow the outside part of the market stalls, think it was 2 or 3 shops in a row that sold blurays Last edited by freddiecarr; 11-24-2009 at 09:19 PM. |

As of now 2011 what are good areas in Hong Kong to go buy Blu-Rays. I have cousins thast are born there, live there and work there, don't even know any real good stores to go get DVDs and Blu-Rays. Unlike which is easy to find are underware, pajamas, socks, sweet pants, kids clothes, maybe old Chinese history books and health books that young adults don't go get, chep dress shirts, and cheap ties.
So any one know any good stores that are easy to find and are not on some small side street near a big one, and there address. And I hope they only sell the real thing NOT pirated one. The reason I ask is family members might be going on another trip to Hong Kong. So I tell them to get me the Blu-Rays of The Killer, Infrenal Affairs movies and maybe a few other stuff either on Blu-Ray or DVD. So any names of and addresses of the stores would be great. |

I found CD Warehouse to be quite good but HMV's prices were probably the most expensive I found in all of HK. It was pretty much next to impossible to find a bootleg shop unless I went to somewhere like Golden or any other place like that. It's also probably best to avoid shopping in Central, Causeway Bay or just avoiding Hong Kong Island for finding good prices.

It looks to be CD Warehouse don't sell Blu-Rays, well their website don't list any. Unless I went to some other site with the same name and does the same thing. I did a search to find them. Also they don't list their address on their site, well I didn't find it. Last edited by syndicate; 10-17-2011 at 10:10 PM. |

http://www.cdwarehouse.com.hk/en/index.asp There no Blu-Ray listing, you can't do any search to see do they have what and the price. Last of there is no section with listing of there store addresses. So anyone know is that there site or what is there website. |

I found it's at least worth a shot to check out any stores that I come upon. I saw the Universe DVD of Big Bullet in some random shop in TST and Comeuppance in a Popular in Tsuen Wan. I never saw them anywhere else.

Visited a few stores today in Kowloon. First, the Popular in Grand Century Place either closed or I couldn't find it in the directory. The HMV in iSquare has a good selection but the prices are predictably higher although I did pick up a tee.
I went to Wide Sight Entertainment on Sai Yeung Choi street and picked up Once and Iris on blu ray for $99hkd total, also Turn Left Turn Right on dvd fot $79hkd (I know overpriced but it's hard to find a legit copy where I am). Went to The Beat Records and their inventory wasn't as extensive and was $20-30hkd more than Win Win Shop for some titles. Picked up Ip Man 1/2 for $190hkd and Running Out Of Time for $125hkd both on blu ray from WWS. Both stores are located on Tung Choi Street. WWS definitely had the best prices out of all the stores I went to and I checked, there are actual blus in the cases. Going to check out some more stores tomorrow. Don't really have a list of flicks I really want although I wish there were more Korean films on blu. *edit - just read reviews of Iris, crap and crap, damn blind buy...at least I liked Once Last edited by smellyegg; 11-19-2011 at 01:33 PM. |

I would actually recommend not straying away from Temple Street if one was to go to the market at night. I started exploring away from the market and that was not a good idea. Last edited by elite; 11-19-2011 at 07:01 PM. |

My experience with this very hectic world metropolitan city has only been good - both at daytime, and in the midle of the night when I have wandered the streets of Hong Kong because of a heavy jet-lag. Actually I have never felt safer. The only thing that bothering me are the dope, fake watches and suits sellers at TST, plus the strong oder smell down at the Dundas street in the bottom of Mongkok where the Ladies Market begins. Of course there might be some incidents happening now and then, but I would say this would be out of the ordinary in Hong Kong. Actually I do not think they have had any murder cases for years over there.... However in mainland China - that's a totally different environment in my opinion (experience). I feel very tense when I have crossed the boarders from HK and over to China. |
