Shia LaBeouf is attached to play a giant in a quirky love story with the working title of "A Giant" at Lava Bear Films says Variety.

The story follows a girl, broke and running from a series of bad relationships, who moves back home to reconnect with her brother.

Instead she forms a relationship with a 20-foot-tall man-child (LaBeouf) who lives next door. Gil Kenan ("Monster House") will direct from a script he wrote.

Lisa Henson, Jason Lust and India Osbourne will produce. No distributor is yet locked but Universal is a strong possibility.

I swear I read somewhere that Shia wanted to carve out a career like DeNiro or Pachino and do movies that mattered or challenged him…..i’m guessing that was too much work.

This sounds similar to an obscure children's book I'd seen years ago, but suffice to say the "girl's failed relationship" wasn't in it...

Then again, Lisa Henson (Disney's personal studio Muppets-puppet) is producing, so best not to take your interpretation of "giant Shia" too literally...Could just be doing a creature/CGI voice.

I've read stories about Gary Oldman and how when he was making Air Force one, Harrison Ford actually had to punch him in the face on the place in order for the scene to feel right to him. When he played Sid Vicious he actually shot up a clear solution into his arm so that it looked right on camera.

I'm guessing Shia isn't very method??

I also think I saw a preview for a news story lastnight on the CW that said he got the crap beat out of him in the street recently.

Anybody else hear about this one??
