1x for Blu-Ray and HD-DVD is 36 Mbps so a 6x drive is 216 Mbps which is an improvement over DVD and CD read/write speeds (DVD 1x is 11 Mbps, CD 1x is 150 Kbps - a 16x DVD drive is therefore 172 Mbps).

ok thanks, so BluRay need 1.5x to read normal movie. I guess they will reach 12 or 16x to on Blu-Ray. Witch will give a really nice read speed...

I've seen it listed online at a few places for over $400 (over suggested retail). It is also supposed to be available in stores in Korea now. ...be careful though, there is a similarily named LG player that is not the same - I think it is only a 2x and the model name is only different by one number.

I've been following the blu writer prices. I keep seeing $399 for lowest price on the Lite-On, Philips, and the Sony too much.
If it's $399 for a 6x burner, then I might be in, but what if the media is only 2x, can we use the 2x bd-r and burn at 6x. Lots of family stuff, football games, etc.... Probably about 50 or so, plus another 150gb or so of mt2s files from my HV20 camcorder. Found a couple reviews... http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,140332/article.html http://www.cdrlabs.com/reviews/index.php?reviewid=309 Last edited by Sonar5; 01-22-2008 at 02:13 AM. |

illegal beagle, that link is to a Blu-ray reader only. We are talking about a writer that you can actually store data to Blu-ray recordable disks.
You can find 4x Blu-ray recordable disks online now. Havn't seen any 6x disks yet. |
