Default Spoiler alert! Toughest boss in NGS?

On Hard mode in chapter 7 there's an insanely tough boss in the monastery archive, a red ninja with all Ryu's special attacks and Ninpo. This guy is a perfect masterpiece of AI. I finally beat him after a few dozen tries. He's the hardest enemy I've met so far in the game.

The lasting appeal is perhaps the greatest thing about NGS. I'm now almost 80 hours in and the game is still extremely challenging with new enemies and new combinations of old ones thrown in.

That is awesome...I bet you can get through my levels with ease...I may call upon you when I have issues...

Wait...I do have issues...how many thugs are there in the open room on the plane? The large open room where bunch of thugs come at you...I mean, I get killed every time (total of 5) with 6 elixirs!!! Please help!

Also, what is better, the dual sword or the dragon sword?

Default Rachel

Anyone have good advice on how to actually use Rachel successfully? She seems slower and I keep getting my ass kicked!!!

I was making good headway with Ryu too!!!

Also, does the merchant not give you something good in return for every Scarab you give him?

From what I remember no. The first one you get something good, then its something like every 5 scarabs you get something good again. Not sure about the number but I do believe thats how it works.

As for Rachel...hmmm, I was actually better with her than I was with Ryu, but its been so long since I played the game so I don't really remember.

Am I one of the only ones on here who found the game really bland and boring? I got to chapter 13 or 14 and just had no reason to keep playing. I'm surprised I kept going as long as I did. It was fun for the first couple hours, but once the combat started feeling repetitive I just didn't care any more. The story sucks.

NGS isn't true 1080p, its just upscaled 720p as confirmed by many sources, so it be no different from playing NG2 on the XB360 set to 1080p.

Something like that... there should be a list on the net.

I had to order this game from BB.com cause the store had none... I haven't beat the game yet but I had rented it from blockbuster when it came out for at least 2 weeks and was getting closer chapt 18 or 19 I think and I have yet to use any ninpo.

This is where I'm up to. I tried a few times but eventually gave in and went to bed. I tell you it's a hard game but feels very rewarding.

For $40 this game is a steal. I had the original on the Xbox and even back when it came out it was awesome. The best part about this game is that it includes all of the previous "upgrades" that the original NG had, plus new tweaks for the PS3...no brainer...buy it!

I think the game is very difficult because there are so many enemies that come at you and just chip away at your life force. I'm on the blimp right now and I can get to the part where I lower a ramp exposing Ryu to the outside and it looks like theres a rope I can climb to another small landing with a treasure chest, but I can't get past the shooting enemies near the chest.

Anyway, I survived the blimp room with a million enemies buy jumping and slamming down on them. That way it knocks them down and I don't get swamped. Try that.

The game is stupidly hard in my opinion, but it looks and plays so fantasic; better than any other game I've ever played.

Practise blocking, constantly moving so you're never swamped and covering distance with a curve so projectiles don't hit you. Once you get the counter move getting swamped isn't quite so much of a problem, learning and using the Izuna Drop move (with a leveled up Dragon Sword - usually you can do this on the airship) and the shorter variant with a summersault slash finisher gives you time to think where you're going to move to safely because you're pretty much invulnerable during its animation. It can be better to try and get out of a swamped situation by jumping upwards and onto the heads of enemies (Ryu does it automatically) rather than rolling out of the way which leaves you more open.

Awesome game! Just beat it yesterday. Amazing graphics. Very hard.

Just have to learn to use the block button and make it second nature while countering your enemy's attack with a quick attack.

For many of the fights the enemies change depending on the difficulty level. In that large open hangar-type room on the airship the combat seems to go on forever, even on Ninja Dog. I don't know how many thugs exactly but I do remember having to pause the game more than once mid-combat to rest my hands ...

I think the dragon sword beats the twin swords as a rule. You can probably beat the game without ever using the latter.

Ok, I'm frustrated beyond belief!!!!

I'm on level 12 I guess and stuck in the area where it seems I can't get out of...I guess it the great hall of balance (big statue with water pouring out into one) How do I get to the upper level in that room? I tried running along the walls, jumping, shooting arrows at the big buckets...nothing works....if I leave the room, I'm back into the corridors and those are dead ends.....

Wheres the cheat sheet?!?!?!!!!!!

Been in that room for two weeks now!!!

P.S. I know I wasnt much help, but I'm at work...I'll have better details tomorrow.....still frustrated...

From the entrance, run to the opposite side of the room and face the left wall (left as if you were still at the entrance), in first person you should see a ledge/hole you can get into if you run directly towards and up the wall. I think you shimmy across into the hole and there's a chest with a key.
