Default Signature Restrictions?

I just tried to edit my signature to update the amount of Blu-ray Discs I have from 20 to 23, and it now tells me that I can only have five lines of text, and that I have too many. I easily had ten lines before, and would like to keep my signature length. Why is it doing this now?

I tried making my signature small in size and not distracting in color and boldness when I first signed up on the forums. I don't think I should be restricted from having ten lines in my signature. Just look at it, it's really fairly sized. *Shrug*

Some changes were made to restrict signature length because some members were abusing it creating almost half-page-length signatures.

I really believe that part of the signature restrictions was set forth because we are getting so many new people on here on top of many people putting too much into their signatures. We had a heated discussion on the signature limit last year and I was on the side of not limiting signatures as long as it wasn't overboard (i.e. looks like an advertising billboard). But since I only have two lines in my signature, it really doesn't affect me.

Edit: We have to remember a few people are using handheld devices to access this website and the screen is a bit small to view all this stuff.

I have just found my signature edited. Without my approval or knowledge.
If Mods want to edit a signature for some reason, the very LEAST they should do is send a PM to that person telling them that they edited it and WHY!

I am not happy about this since I had nothing in my sig that was objectionable.

I also suggest that if you Mods want to restrict signatures, make a sticky or something that explains the restrictions to the signatures. This way people can avoid these forced signature restrictions!

I figured that was inevitable for me so I just changed it myself before they had a chance.

I was once on a forum where members frequently made HUGGEE signatures. The admin solved it by adding a button next to posts called "kill sig", if you click it, you never see that particular member's sig again unless you unkill it. So people who are bothered by long sigs can kill the ones they don't like, those who don't mind seeing them don't have to do anything, they'll still see them all, and nobody gets restrictions.

I'm not saying they shouldn't restrict them... but they didn't even tell me they did it, or were going to!
They should at LEAST list the restrictions somewhere, and send a PM to those they manually change. Or be nice about it and send them a "warning" to change it or they will.
But no, they sent me nothing and i just happened to notice it.
They really need to be more polite and let us know they are editing out accounts.

Mine hasn't been edited (I don't have one yet!), but I agree 100%. A little curtesy goes a long way.
