Default In need of a new Sound System with some Restrictions

So Im trying to push getting a new sound setup going for my downstairs TV room. We have the Bose 3-2-1 system right now with our 46" Sony XBR LCD with the PS3 hooked up to it. My question is what would be the best setup for fairly small room, which no rear speakers can wired through the walls. Is there any kind of good Rear wireless speakers or are those just crap? Ive read a few things here and there about the sound setups people have and am pretty blown away by them since they are pretty awesome. So any help would be great, price range would be around a $1,000. BTW I don't know much about sound or the setups, all I know is I want the true High Def. Experience with the the uncompressed audio everyone rants about.

A good starting point might be the Onkyo HTIB, or better, the Onkyo 605 + some speakers from the likes of Axiom, Paradigm, etc. If at all possible, audition stuff (preferably in your own home) before parting with your cash.

I'd get the Onkyo 605 if i were you.

Heck, thats what i did. And i love the thing.

Im not sure about wireless speakers. I cant imagine them being the greatest things of all time... Plus, considering a non-fuzzy set of wireless headphones can range from 200-300 dollars, i cant even imagine the price of speakers. . Let alone 5/7 of them.

Wires can be delt with multiple ways. Theres a thread on here showing a good 30 or so ways of hideing speaker wire. I personally couldnt care less - i have mine running across my floor. Most people arent stupid enough to trip over them, and since they go under the couch and whatnot, they are hardly visible. Im sure you could find away arount your little wire problem.
Should always go wired... no matter what. whether it be for internet, extention cords ( http://www.thinkgeek.com/stuff/41/wec.shtml ), speakers, HDMI cables ( http://www.gefen.com/kvm/product.jsp?prod_id=4318 ), or anything elese - Wired is best.
Nothing better than an un-interruptable connection.

There are wireless receivers for rear speakers that go for around $100. I saw someone on here post the links but can't remember which post it was.

Maybe a large area rug, over the existing carpet..... you said "downstairs" does that mean "basement" ??? that would be a good way to have the wired concealed, so nobody trips on them etc. Without seing the room, it's hard to tell.... sometimes you can push them under baseboard etc......

Many ways to do it......

I might get some heat for this, but if this is a secondary system, you might just want to stick with the Bose, and keep saving the cash to upgrade right the first time...... For $1,000 you'll end up trying to cut a lot of corners, and that's an awfully nice Television.

Actually no basement, I live In California so those are hard to find haha. Its the "TV room" right next to the kitchen area, and an area rug might work I had not have even thought of that. And this is the primary system in the household, secondary is in my room and I am in the process of switching from a Sony to a Dell Monitor since I am mostly using that for the computer anyways and I cant even a real sound setup there either
