Default New Sound System!

Hi all,
Currently I have been wanting to get a new kick @$$ system for years now. Right now I have the speakers that came with the Onkyo HTIB I purchased. They are great, however, I decided that you only live once, so I am going to be picking up the Definitive Technology Pro Cinema 800's today after work, Pro Monitor 800's x 4, Pro Center 1000 x 1, and Pro Sub 1000 x 1. What do you think?

It sounds like a great setup, but before you just go out and spend $2000 or more on speakers, you should really look around, listen to a lot of speakers. Is there a Sound Advice in your area, they are going out of business and probably willing to make good deals. Good Luck.

I did check out a lot. I checked out Klipsch, and to be honest, I don't know what all the hype is about. I really like the Martin Logans, but way out of my price range.

Oh, well done, friend! I listened to the DefTech satellites when I was browsing for a bedroom setup, and they pack a remarkable punch for their size. You won't be disappointed, I can assure you! Great little blighters, the lot of them. Better than the Polk RM or the Klipsch Quintet, albeit more expensive, of course.

If you have a tweeter in your area they are going out of business as well with up to 50% off speakers I bought my whole Klipsch setup there for 40% off

Currently I have some ONKYO HTIB speakers, they are loud and good, but I want more clear and all. What do you think? You can check out my sig. to see the pictures. The sub kicks a lot for a HTIB! You think this upgrade will do it? This will be MY LAST UPGRADE for speakers for a while. I went through 3 Surround Sounds in the past year! LOL. Should of just went with these to begin with (DT).

Last time I heard Def Techs, I was not all that impressed. They were sattelites though. While they were clear and impressively loud, they were extremely bright and almost unbearable to listen to. A lot of that could have been attributed to the receiver, room, etc... Hopefully there towers are not like that.

Check out Ebay for Klipsch speakers and buy them as separates. This will save you the most money and get you a kiss a** system. If you really want to shell out some cash for a good system, go with the Definitive Mythos towers. Either ST or STS

Also you can buy really good Klipsch or Def towers for L,C, and R and use the Klipsch Quintet system for surrounds. Believe it or not, you can actually achieve good balance with that mixture.

Hey all,
After work, I decided to go by the Magnolia Theater at Best Buy, and came out with a new system, decided to wait it out, but ended up buying them.

DT Pro Monitor 800's x 4
DT Pro Center 1000 x 1
DT Pro Sub 1000 x 1

System Sounds 10x better! I didn't have it all the way up either. The sub kicks a lot of bass and it was 1/3 of the way up.

Please see my Home Theater to see new pics.

I am happy for you! I had the Def tech pro cinema 1000 set up and it packed a punch.Deftechs get the job done for HT. Question: Why did you not go with the Pro 1000 sats for the fronts?

Great choice on the speakers!!!!!!! Watch out for the DefTech haters out there... they are most likely Klipsch owners, pissed of they didn't get to hear Definitive before they bought their setup. Have a BLAST!!!!!!!

Nobody is hating on his speakers. Why do you have to hate on the speakers of others? You do understand that it is all a matter of personal preference don't you?
