I did a search so please don't kill me if this was posted before, but....
New Line. I gotta hand it to them. For being a new studio with only 5 titles they have done a phenominal job with their Discs (albeit I haven't seen Pans Labyrinth yet so I don't know how bad the DNR is) but all their releases so far have been amazing PQ and AQ. I give props to warner for driving prices down and including special features (aka blade runner) but New line has been amazing with 2 disc releases for day and dates with HD extras and having lossless sound on EVERYTHING. in 7.1 native to be exact. (hell Hairspray has a 7.1 24bit track too !!!). we should have expected this from New line, anyone remember their infinifilms ???. If they put this much time and attention into their upcoming releases like Golden compass I will continue to look forward to their titles voraciously. /me shivers in anticipation for the Blade series on BD-50 with 7.1 DTS-MA ![]() |

I would agree but New Line should also offer their Discs Region Free - that's the only negative point I have.

They are a smaller studio whose titles are distributed by other companies overseas. Those international distributors have the right to release their own product in the market they own. I know it sucks for some people... but Region Coding is the only reason we can get new release New Line titles, so...

I just got two more surround speakers, and on Sunday I watched 3:10 to Yuma in 7.1 PCM. I had watched it previously with 5 speakers and the uncompressed sound. As the reviewer of Hairspray on HDD said about 7.1 lossless, I am totally spoiled. When the bird flies away at the beginning of the movie, after Russell Crowe is done sketching it, the sound of the wings from that extra speaker on the left let me know I made a good investment.
I now want all movies in 7.1. I like the matrixing effects of my receiver, but of course I want to take full advantage of my system. I join in applauding New Line. On the note of region-free discs, think about how much longer we would have to wait, though, on titles. Pan's Lab. was their only HD DVD release because they have to wait for theatrical runs and such to end around the world. |
