Jaws 3D was the title of the film in the 80's. I still remember seeing the poster on a wall on the boardwalk. With that in mind, I can't imagine why they wouldn't first release the actual movie that was made in 3D, and instead make the original Jaws in 3D? That doesn't make much sense, but I'm not against it, as the original is the better movie IMO.

![]() ![]() ![]() I'm actually excited to see it (in 3D), it'll be neat to see the intended 3D style of filming from a few of over 120 films from 1952-2004, & a bunch before 1950.. The more brought back & fixed up for Blu-ray 3D the better. To be able to have a piece of cinematic history in its (partially) intended native viewing format will be incredible... I'm all for it! |

That's what I figured on. Converting the original ("part 1") would be a much longer project, seeing George Lucas is estimating one StarWars conversion per year, but IDK if the Digital one/s will be faster? Still, I wouldn't mind if It was done respectively...

"speaking of Universal, sources are telling us that the studio is tentatively expecting to release Steven Spielberg's Jaws on Blu-ray on 8/14/2012. We've also been told that at least some of the sequels may be released on Blu-ray on the same day, including Jaws 3D on Blu-ray 3D." |

Perhaps the OP could edit his first or second post, then we could all get on the same page...?
I'll be eager to hear the first reviews on PQ & AQ. I can't imagine this not getting a new master; the last release was the 2005 DVD, but that master may date back to the 2000 DVD. |

Lets get this straight Jaws 3 3D was a total flop across all cinemas across the world in the 1980s and is by no means worth a Real 3D release "lets be honest", if you were going to release the movie then Jaws 1 and 2 are the only true movies worth releasing, as for a number 3 i am surprised the Germans have not yet released a 3D version as it seems to be there style of releasing movies that have already been released of old hat. "Harse but true", lets hope we get a truly new remake, watching 2012 with open eyes.

-- Glad to see this is the original Jaws 3D being released in stereo 3D, instead of anaglyph as most theaters had back then. Never in the 80's did I even see an ad or theater for stereo 3D. Even back in the day, Spy Kids 3D was using anaglyph at the local Cinemark theater. I hope Jaws 3D is reasonably priced at $22.99 or less. |

In the old days (like, 1982), theaters were 1-3 screens, different movies showed at different theaters across town, and a movie would stay on the same screen for a week at a time. Which was a good thing for 3-D, since polarized required a special reflective screen that had to stay up for the run of the movie. By the time Spy Kids 3D and Freddy's Dead came along, movies jumped all over cineplexes from one showing to the next, and there wasn't time to show a movie on anything but the regular screen that was already up, so studios had to go back to the "low-tech" of red-and-blue anaglyph, where it was all in the glasses. IMAX could keep 3-D alive since they had the same movie (or all 3-D movies) on their one big screen--But "our" modern post Polar/Chicken 3-D didn't come along until the advent of digital projection, which made it easier to convert to Blu. |
