I'm surprised people have been saying The Invasion is bad. I just got through watching it and I really liked it. It has been a long time since I've seen Invasion of the Body Snatchers so I wasn't even sure what was going to happen next in the movie. It kept me pretty tense. Anyway, I enjoyed it.

OK the only bad parts about this movie were the extras. and the chinese kid. I laughed so hard when he was flung into the bed post!

I had never heard of this movie before but picked it up anyway considering the actors playing in this movie. (Nicolle, Danielle).

This is by far one of the worst movies I have ever seen. Some of the low-budget Sci-Fi channel movies (mosquito man etc) blow this movie out of the water. What a pile of rubbish this movie is! I really feel ripped off now paying close to $28 for this movie. This movie should have a price tag of no more than $9.99

I by the way didn't even finish watching it. After about 45 minutes of this movie I couldn't take it anymore.

Take it over to the trade forum. I'm sure you can trade it for something more to your liking. New Releases are always a hot commodity over in the trade forum.

Seeing THE INVASION on Blu-Ray kinda ticks me off in that an opportunity to see the REAL version of the film has gone to waste.

I don't know if this was covered already, but this was a casualty between the producer and director. The guy that directed it was Oliver Hirschbiegel, who had previously made two really great German films, DAS EXPERIMENT and DOWNFALL (which is so far my favorite foreign film of the decade as well as an amazing WW2 movie). THE INVASION was supposed to be his big break into Hollywood. This wasn't a bad movie from the get go. There was the possibility of it being just as good as the original and 78 version. But his initial cut was I guess more along the lines of a psychological thriller or something a little more cerebral. Not the action, summer blockbuster type of movie that Joel Silver and the folks at WB had in mind. So they went back and got the Wachowski's to re-shoot a ton of stuff.

I highly doubt that the guy that made DOWNFALL would have had aliens hoking up loogies onto their victims or turn the ending into something from a zombie movie.

I was secretly hoping that since the movie tanked and that they could figuratively do whatever they wanted, that the Blu-Ray edition would include Oliver's original cut of the film so that audiences could actually make up their mind if the original version was the right version.

Oh well. At least there's the possibility that we can finally see a proper version of I AM LEGEND in March.

I thought finding a BD on the shelves early and "getting lucky" were two different things.

Oh.... never mind. Wrong crowd.

This movie suffers the same thing that Golden Compass did (and it is not the pairing of Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig) - the editing. Both movies move too fast. They both felt like the film that made it to the screen is not the movie that was originally shot (regionrodie confirmed this earlier for Invasion). I was hoping for a different cut on video and I'm praying for a 2 1/2 - 3hr version of Golden Compass on Blu.

I actually enjoyed the psychological issues/aspects of the film. It was quite enjoyable. it isn't very suspenseful and the script is subpar, but overall i thought Nicole Kidman did her best to carry the film.

I'm disappointed this didn't do better at the box office, though i'm glad it had a multiplier of 3x. which is pretty good for a flop.

An intriquing/solid theme aside, it is a horribly-disjointed and mediocre film. Plagued with problems on set from the start, it seems this was destined to fail from the get-go.

A rental... at best.

I think the 1978 Invasion of the Body Snatchers movie with Donald Sutherland is much better, but I appreciated this movie BECAUSE I liked the old one. There are a lot of similarities in this movie to a zombie film, for example, the car scene when all the infected people are crawling on the car while they are trying to get away. Or the scene in the pharmacy when they have a few infected locked behind the door and they are banging on it trying to get in.

PS3 decodes TrueHD just fine. It will not do lossless DTS (yet) It's a short list of those that cannot decode TrueHD. BDP-S300 comes to mind. Which others?

I didnt think it was a bad movie, but I wouldn't buy it. There were some pretty lame scenes. The one thing that I found the most absurd was the Product placements. There were more product placements in this movie than most other movies i can recollect. The Phone, Drugs(Idderall), Mountain Dew, News TV Stations, Bose, Apple, Sony PSP, Nokia Cell Phone, Mercedes SUV, Rolling Rock Beer,Fisher Nuts, Pepsi, Did I mention the phone,Brand store named Lucy, And the Phone

Attention Moderators! Since this is probably the main thread for this movie, you might want to edit the title of this thread by taking out the " " before and after Invasion. This would allow it to show up under search.

I want 90 mins of my life back. About the only good thing going for this movie was Nicole Kidman. I'm surprised she would pick a script like this being that it's a horrible interpretation of Body Snatchers.

Thumbs up

I have 3 of the 4 Body Snatchers movies on blu-ray.

Regardless of the quality of the films, I do want all 4 for my collection!
