just like the title suggests...i was just locking in my pre-order for paranormal activity 3 i like all 3 films i know some that like certain ones in the franchise, but anyway was thinking how many members here like to keep buying a franchise of a movie just to complete the collection,i know one that pops up alot is the jurrasic park series many have said they would only own the 1st one and not buy the rest of them...so voice your opinion

I used to be, but now I think it is just a waste of money considering I won't even be watching the movies that I am buying just to 'complete'. I bought all of the Bond movies a few years ago, but now I realize that I will probly only ever watch maybe half of them enough to justify the purchase. I mean why wouldnt I rather watch From Russia With Love for the 10th time rather than watch The Man With The Golden Gun for even the 2nd time.

Only with certain things. If I'm a huge fan of the series (ex: the upcoming Bond set) then most definitely yes, but if I only like the first entry (ex: Die Hard).

And here is an example of my completist behavior:
It drives me crazy that only seasons 1 and 6 of The Sopranos are on Blu, since I am a huge fan of that. I was holding out for a complete series set, but received the first one as a gift so now I'm contemplating buying season six.

To a extent yeah. if i can get a film from a franchise I didn't care for much cheap I'll get it. But again there are just some sequels that are so bad that i'll never get them probably unless I get them for free to a $1 that movie being Wrong Turn 3. That movie was just so horrible and not in a good way

Nope! I was during the DVD years but had too many one time watch movies that just sat there for years, waste of space and money. Now I prefer to buy mostly the movies I enjoy the most and rent the rest

Same here. It really depends on the franchise for me. Back in the day, I'd buy it all, just to have it. Never watched it, but I had every installment of every film series in my collection. Kind of like bragging rights.

I'm way more selective now. As I get older, I am trying to control my movie collecting OCD.

This, exactly. I don't mind just having certain movies I like from franchises. I only own the first four seasons of The West Wing on DVD because I didn't like where it went from the fifth season on. Same with the first six seasons of ER. I'm being even pickier with blu-ray. All my completist urges have (thankfully) disappeared.

No because a genuine movie buff and enthusiasts, doesn't feel within themselves, and compel to buy movies just to be a "completest of a franchise whether or not the movies are good. The sole purpose of a true movie collector, is to buy films accordingly to their preference, and liking. Being a completest is an unnecessary act of obsession.

Nope. If I don't like the movie, I won't get it. That's why I don't have, for example, Godfather 3 or Matrix 2/3.

I don't have the urge to buy things I don't want, and I really don't even understand it.

Speaking of movies like the Matrix, or Nightmare on Elm Street I have seen the sequels on sale at Best Buy and I think to myself hey they are only $5. However then the voice of reason explains to me that I'm better off pretending that those sequels don't exist. I do not want to ruin my enjoyment of the first movie by having the crappy sequels around.

Usually, as most of the time if I like one 'part' of a franchise then I'll like them all, such as James Bond, Star Wars or Jurassic Park. That's just how I am, I even like Moonraker and A View to a Kill.

However sometimes there are occasions where I'm not fussed by everything, such as Star Trek, where I only really care about The Next Generation and possibly Deep Space Nine and Voyager.

It depends. But heavily lean towards collecting all of it.

I am willing to collect mediocre movies to have a complete collection (Fast & Furious, Chronicles of Narnia) And if it comes in a nice box set packaging, I'm willing to even buy a bad movie to have a complete collection.(Battle Royale 2, Shrek 3, Godfather 3) But if I started collecting individually and there is one I really hate (Mummy 3) then I will skip it. - Unless I can get it really really cheap (Boondock Saints 2 - got it for $1 used)

I used to be a bit like that. I've always been pretty much a Star Wars person, and never really got Trek, although when I was younger I did watch the three Star Trek shows I mentioned, hence why I only really like them. But it's only now I've started to get back into Trek with the BD release of The Next Generation.
