Default ISF Calibration

I had my set calibrated this morning by Steve from smartcalibration.com and have spent the day going through all of my Blu-rays and what a difference it has made.

Apparently the blue was really screwed up (waaaay too high) from the factory so the colors were really off. Now, after the calibration, everything looks so much better and so much crisper.

BHD looks even better now

To paraphrase Ferris Bueller, "It is so choice; if you have the means, I highly recommend getting it done."

I read some stuff on his site but I'm still unsure as to how you can "calibrate" a TV and if it really makes 350.00 dollars worth of difference?

Thumbs up I agree!

I had my last set ISF'd. It was 53" Pioneer Elite CRT rear projection.

It looked great from the factory, but colors were off. (Green was really pushed.) Also the grayscale was much-improved afterwards and the contrast too.

The image looked so much more film-like afterwards, it made me want to watch my entire DVD collection all over again.

I have the new SXRD now, but I've heard that they could use an ISF calibration too. I believe it will improve any display.

Too bad it is an expensive service.

Now I see how this relates to the other thread about that Avia setup disc on Blu-ray. I'm starting to understand more now.

The Avia disc is great (or I should say 'will be great' because its not out yet) for getting it close to perfect, but getting a display calibrated is worth the money. I may have to do that soon.

I was skeptical at first too, but I read too many raves about good calibration to dismiss them.

After seeing the difference first hand I can attest that it is really worth it.
