Default Does Your Dog React to 1080p?

Ever since I started watching Blu-ray discs on my PS3/Samsung, I've noticed that my dog takes genuine interest in some of what's on. Planet Earth has plenty of creatures, that I've watched him actually follow across the screen! Any real substance to this? Is it progressive vs interlace that makes the difference?

i think it has nothing to do with it. what is the refresh rate of ur t.v.? a dogs visual acuity level is greater than that of humans. while we may see smooth motion at >23.x (i forget the exact number to be honest... it may be higher or lower) fps a dog may see smooth motion at 31 fps (this number i don't know but is used as an example). so if a t.v. shows 120 fps, then the dog will see smooth motion. if it displays at under a dogs "smooth motion" frame rate, then your dog will just see a flickering image and not follow an image. thus, i believe your t.v. has much more to do with it than blu-ray

Could be, but my 4665F is 60hz capable (not the 120hz model), and "Planet Earth" was displayed at 24hz. So, that's inconsistent with the smooth motion theory, but he certainly seemed to be watching/following action. I was ready to write it off as coincidence, but it's happened quite frequently. I need to pay more attention to what he reacts to, to see if there's any real pattern over time. Or, I might just assume he's watching, and break out a bowl of popcorn for him.

I think it has more to do with the sounds...my dog reacted to sounds and "watched tv" before I had a 1080p setup.

Our cat sits on the coffee table all the time and watches TV. She was really into Planet Earth. My dogs will take notice of the sounds more than anything . . . if there are dogs barking in movies they look at the speakers and do that head tilt thing that dogs do.

My dog does react to BD. Her biggest reaction though was during the Super Bowl when the dog is training the horse in the Budweiser commercial.

My dog actually does watch TV and react to things on screen with BD. I never noticed him react to it on regular TV or DVD, but that doesn't necessarily mean he hasn't.

I've got the exact situation with my cat and dog.
