Default I'm part of Blu-ray PS3 now: My first movies bought!

Please welcome a new supporter! ( I hope this is the right section?)
Been saving money to be a part of you all.

Just did a huge shopping spree at Sonystyle and Amazon.

Got me a PS3 80GB, xtra control, ps2 memory card holder,
DMC4

and 6 Blu Ray titles

Cars
Live free or Die Hard
Sleepy Hollow
Warriors of Heaven and Earth
Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl
Casino Royale

Please discuss what you think of this movie selection.

I own a Samsung LN-S4095D, but I'm looking to upgrade to Sony Xbr4 or the new Z series thats the updated model. YES the Sony tv's are just so much better imho.

All will be here soon

Welcome new friend, you'll like it here
Cars is an excellent choice, so is Die Hard, Pirates and Casino Royale.
I haven't seen the other two on Blu yet so I can't comment.

My first BD movie was Talladega Nights, but that is only cause it came with the system. My first Blu-ray purchase was Little Man. Tells you how long ago it was when I bought my first blu-ray movie.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your purchases!
Pretty good selection on movie titles there.
The only one from your list I have not seen on blu-ray yet is Sleep Hollow, I ordered it and it is still sitting shrinkwrapped with a bunch of others. (I know shame on me!) Live free or die hard, Pirates and Cars have the best PQ imo.

Thanks for the nice welcome
Gotta love tax returns right! Tax returns to boost our sluggish economy

.. I noticed that HD DVD did not have a really developed forum
I stuck with BLU ray the minute it was announced, although down the line I thought that HD DVD had a few good points, however, its promises were all in vain. I knew that if the blu ray was implemented into a game system it would prevail, as proven with ps2 with DVD, indeed it had great timing!

Hmm I'm thinking of Enemy of the state, Blood Diamond,
Waiting for LOTR, Batman, more asian movies, fantasy movies and more I can't think of. OH! Final Fantasy advent children, that title is taking a while to come to us! I want that.

Hmmm. Hopefully you'll be able to sell the PS2 Memory Card adapter later, especially if you don't have a PS2 anymore.

Hope you're kind to film grain though, cause you got one...cough....'Sleepy Hollow' that's rather grainy, possibly the way the director intended it. Cars is gonna be excellent, of course and Casino Royale, Live Free Or Die Hard would make great demo material.

Welcome to the forums. Some very nice purchases there, although you may have wanted to hold out on that extra controller as I think the Dual Shock 3 hits the US in about a month (I' though I'd heard it's coming in March anyway).

PS - If you haven't seen cars, be sure to watch the clips that play during the credits as well (although I think there is also a bonus feature that lets you watch them without the credits rolling) as I personally think the drive-in movie theatre part is the funniest part of the entire movie.

Diamondfoxxx: yes I'm kind to film grain, it depends on how much.
I think if done well its ok by me
Better than losing details lol.

WriteSimply: Why would I sell the ps2 memory card holder?
Isn't the point to keep that ? Hmm I sold off my ps2 already so I do need this.

bajor27: Thanks for the tip, I will remember to look for that part!

And the rest of you, you're so kind to people here on the forums
Yah a lot of forums don't welcome newbs .

Are you talking about the memory card adapter? Because once the save game data is on the PS3, you don't need it anymore, unless you want to take it to a friend's house who only has a PS2.

And welcome to the boards! You'll find it's one of the nicer groups of people on the web.

I recently purchased a DMP-BD30 Panny BD player with Cars, Planet Earth, Pirates 1, 2 and 3, The Prestige, Into The Blue, Troy the directors cut, X-men the final stand. I do not have a HD television yet...it is in the works...(any suggestions ? ) I cannot appreciate the extra quality that Blu Ray provides yet, but one thing I did notice and I absolutely love was the fact that there is no blasted layer change pauses when playing a title (50 GB vs 8 GB...sweet). One thing I would like to mention though, I see a lot of people saying that the DMP-BD30 is horrible on upconversion; I tried this unit on a 1080p setup at the store at which I purchased it at and I didn't think that the upconversion was all that bad....am I missing something here? I have literally hundreds of DVD's and I cannot afford to replace everyone of them (with the exception of Paramount and Universal.....as of now )

Thanks.

Gotta tip my hat off to you Kuraudo, these are some wise choices for your Blu-ray collection:

Casino Royale: The VERY FIRST Blu-ray movie that I've bought, and a real no-brainer for your collection.

Live Free or Die Hard: Dynamite sound and picture quality!

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl: Always a great movie!

Cars: I have yet to get this movie on Blu-ray, but I will get it before Spring starts!

Sleepy Hollow: Don't have this one either, but still a great Johnny Depp/Tim Burton movie!

I don't know too much about Warriors of Heaven and Earth.

Once again Kuraudo, you have made wise choices for your starting Blu-ray collection, and I hope you continue to do so in the weeks and months to come!
