Just bought my first 2 Blu-ray movies today... - Blu-ray Forum

I just bought 300 and The Patriot today. I am excited to see how much better the Patriot is than the original DVD release and I haven't seen 300 yet. The only negatives are that I have a Sony Wega CRT that isn't widescreen and only has DVI and I don't think my receiver can do uncompressed PCM.

Right on... welcome to the Brotherhood Of Blu!!! I highly recommend to wander into the territories of 'Casino Royale', 'Happy Feet', 'Apocalypto', 'Flags Of Our Fathers', 'The Departed'.... and so on... and so forth.

The equipment definitely needs an overhaul though!!!

The Patriot and 300 aregood movies to start off with, both are good movies. The Patriot i think shows off what blu-ray is really about more than 300 but if you have a chance to rent/buy Apocalypto, Pirates of the Carribean 1 & 2, Crank, The Prestige or Casino Royale i suggest you do. Welcome to the club!

Warning: Once you go Blu theres no gong back!

Good choices! ahh i remember my first Blu-ray.. oh wait that was last week. Well once you see one your going to want them all so start saving up your money!

Yes, you need a new TV first and foremost.

I never understood buying a ps3 without an HDTV. It's like buying a Ferrari and not driving it even once.

My Receiver can't do uncompressed PCM with a PS3 no HDMI in. I do have a Toshiba 1080i TV (gasp) I know. How's that for irony.
