Or people can also use Scotch tape to remove the residue. Just stick part of the tape over the residue, lift it up, and repeat. Just imagine that you're "waxing" the slipcover of the residue.

I received my copy of the new upgrade this morning. Bluraysforeveryone.com lists it as region A locked, but it played just fine on my Oppo that was set to region B, for those that are interested in region coding.
As far as the new transfer goes: It's been a while since I watched my first copy of Wall Street, but from what I remember from the first one, it is clearly inferior to this new release. The first one wasn't a bad release for early Blu Ray standards, but this one is just hands down better. The bit rate seems to be very high in this new release as well from the info I can gather. I looked at 3 copies of French Con. Same 2 spots on front near bottom, 1/2" from either side, where the slipcover print is rubbed off. Grrr. I'll have to order online and see if that's better.

Will these new transfers get a release in other countries. I live in the UK and these are some of my favourite films.

I am unable to upload screenshots but I can confirm the new transfer improves on several aspects of this film. It wasn't until I watched the old blu ray tonight that I realized just how soft, dull and faded it looks. The new transfer is sharper, has better colors, the high bit rate encode helps, and also there is much better grain structure.
The film is not, and probably won't ever be razor sharp high definition- but you should definitely be able to tell a difference in most scenes. Especially the central park scene at the end. More vibrant, and more accurate colors throughout. Plus the booklet it comes with is cool and very interesting, not to mention the slip. I snagged it for $9.99 at Best Buy tonight. Totally worth it, especially if you don't previously own the film or are a big fan. |

Thank those of you who have given comparisons to the previous transfer. I bought the new Best Buy release and one thing for sure, it's not a "pretty picture", but on the other hand, it doesn't look bad and grain structure seems pretty solid.

Finally, the best screencap site on the Internets provides with a comparison that shows just how superior the new version is:
