Wow.. no way.

If true, Microsoft's recent excuses about underestimating demand would start to make sense. They knew what was coming.

Now that is GOOD news!

Looks like 2008 is PS3 year indeed.

First Blu-ray won, now the game console that help Blu-ray format wins end up winning as well.
Good news one after another. Who say PS3 is a failure?

Default Microsoft spin control was already in full effect

They pre-announced that sales were down due to "supply issues" to soften this blow. I wonder.

Every installed PS3 is another potential Blu customer so hopefully this trend is a sign of things to come.

to bad the 80gb is gone. hopefully they bring in the 120gb really soon and a price drop on the 40 in march wouldnt be bad. if the 40 was at 300 it would dominate the wii and 360 and if the 120 was at 450 that will destroy the elite. just some wishful thinking.

Yup, even Engadget thought something was fishy about that.

I wouldn't call it wishful thinking.

I'm sure Sony is planning something like this as well.

The microsoft statements about not having enough product is PURE bullcrap. You cannot walk into a Best Buy store in the US and not trip over the boxes ontop of boxes of Xbox 360s stacked around the stores. Interest in the 360 is dwindeling bigtime while PS3 interest is peaking more and more. Blu-Ray becoming the major format for HD really put the PS3 above the rest, people know that system is going to last them years and years. Plus all the hot titles out this year (MGS4, GT5, LBP, etc). It is wonderful.

Once things are really sorted on the Blu-ray and gaming side imagine the numbers then.

Lets get those big hitters out.

Sweet.

It's still going to be hard to convince my friends that PS3 is going to start doing better than 360.

Same with BB and futureshops in Canada. No shortages I can see.

Gamers don't buy Blu-ray movies and don't care about HD so Blu-ray winning the format war won't have any effect on which console they purchase don't you know. Sony was stupid for including it and has killed the Playstation brand.

"I said train kept a rollin all night long
Train kept a rollin all night long
Train kept a rollin all night long
Train kept a rollin all night long
With a heave and a ho"

Blu-ray is the heave and MSG4, GT5, Killzone, LBP, Resistance are the ho..

The slimline version hitting Japan for Fall 2008 will be the next crucial point on the way to a PS3peat of over a 100 million consoles.

We have an exceptionally diverse lineup of exclusive games, from Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, Metal Gear Solid 4 and Resistance 2 to more mainstream games such as LittleBigPlanet and SingStar. Beyond that, we have Blu-ray emerging as the de facto high def standard, the developer community is hitting their stride, consumers are recognizing the tremendous value and innovative services such as PlayStation Home are all in the works, so this is definitely shaping up to be a breakthrough year for us.”
