PS3 top selling console by 2011

For more than a year, the whole world has seen Sony's PlayStation 3 get its rear handed to it by Nintendo's Wii and Microsoft's Xbox 360.

But if a three-year forecast from market research firm iSuppli is to be believed, the PS3 could out pace both the Wii and the Xbox by 2011.

Since its release in November 2006, the Wii has been the most successful of the next-gen consoles, far eclipsing Microsoft's Xbox 360 and leaving the PS3 in the dust.

But because the Xbox had a full year's head start on both the Wii or the PS3, it still had the overall sales lead.

Now, however, that lead looks imperiled, and according to a report in Information Week, the Wii could soon become the overall sales leader among the three consoles.

the ps3 has a 10 year life cycle. the 360 and the wii should hit peak sales first before the ps3. so it wouldnt surprise me that the ps3 will take the lead in the future

Personally, I think that the Wii will always be in the lead. It's still sold out everywhere and is nearly impossible to find. The 360's are still selling very good to, I can't say anything for PS3.

The only reason that the PS2 is still alive is because they haven't sold nearly enough PS3 consoles so companies continue to make games for the PS2 instead of the PS3.

The Wii will always be the top of this console generation, which is sad. It's such a garbage system. And 360 behind that, and PS3 in last.

360 came out and more powerful than PS2. It still got whoop by PS2.

Next Xbox won't be competing with PS3 anyways, it'll be going agains't PS4, which could be MORe powerful.

Yeah, and people also said Blu-ray would win to. It's clearly word of mouth and who you're talking to. Blu-ray is better than HD-DVD which is why it won. At the current pace 360 is better than PS3. Only thing stopping the Xbox from winning the console war is they needed Blu-ray.

And when you say "I can read the future". No I can't, and neither can the people who are predicting that the PS3 will take over. The PS3 so far has nothing to offer (Home won't help it either).

game wise the ps3 has nothing on the 360....No Bioshock, no Halo, Madden
is slow, no Gears of War........Even gta is going to have exclusive missions
on the 360.....

Game wise? 360 has nothing on the PS3....No Resistance 2, Killzone 2, Haze, MGS4, LGP, FFXIII, VersusXIII, Uncharted, Uncharted 2, God of War 3, Tekken 6, White Knight Chronicle, Grand Turismo, and many more.

Even GTA4 for PS3 pre-order numbers are higher than the 360 version. It's 2 to 1.

Resistence was a very good game, but not better than Gears of War that
came out at the same time....Killzone 2 has promise....MGS4 is a given
but will come out on the 360.....

Don't get me wrong i LOVE my ps3.....But as of right now the better games
are on the 360......And Gears of War and Halo are better to have exclusive
than Resistence and Killzone

As a gamer though it is nice to have both systems.....And enough money
is spent on games that all 3 will do just fine

First of all, you're spitting opinion like it's facts.

Secondly, MGS4 will be PS3 exclusive. Konami/Kojima said that MANY times already.

Gears of War and Halo are old news by the way. If that's all you can use to back up the 360, then the 360 doesn't have very many good titles.

looking at the lineup of games this year, my money is on PS3, especially if FFXIII comes out this year.

Sony wishes they we're old news.....MGS4 is gonna be so sick.....You may
of got the wrong opinion....I want to use my ps3....but as of now theres
been little to get excited about(except for the blu rays)

Sigma was way cool, motorstorm was good.....But as of right now I would
like to see better games more consistently, especially exclusive games...
