You may be suffering from DVD OCD. I'm not a huge fan of cumbersome packaging, I just put on Sherlock Holmes for my Dad and the Digibook is about five feet long and he wasn't sure which one he wanted to watch and I never learnt to play the accordion....

I'm kind of all over the place with thoughts of the sets this year, we have the Bond 50 set which is two books in a box, the Friends set which looks like another book and then we have the two types of Alfred Hitchcock Masterpiece sets from the US and UK.

I don't think there's a disc hub between them.

Can I ask, the 15th Anniversary box set DVD (the white one) that has the extended cuts, does it only have the extended cuts? I do own it but I don't remember lol. Like if it gave an option to watch the original or extended.

Any chance the UK set will include the extended episodes? They were only available in the UK DVD set right?

Yes, in the recent set released in 2009. All other DVDs and boxsets released until then (apart from a couple of the season 7/8 individual volume releases) were the broadcast versions. And I think about 99% of the population of the UK knows Friends off by heart from their old DVDs and their E4 re-runs. Myself included. Broadcast versions and 4x3 would be my preference

I'm pretty sure ALL the season DVD releases of Friends in the US have included the extended episodes from the get go. Hence why they are saying the broadcast ones are out 'FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME!' in the US with this set. I very highly doubt that Warner would go through the trouble of releasing extended versions in the UK and not in the US where more people are more familiar with them.

I reckon they just didn't restore them and I wouldn't be surprised if they never bothered, but hey maybe if sales for this are terrible...

It's Warner, it will be region free.

In fact, to save the question being asked repeatedly from now until October, can we get a mod to add "Region Free" to the title of the thread?

Amazon.com has this for $195, that's 125 pounds. Not bad if you prefer the extras and the packaging

They've locked a few in some other countries but I've never seen them region lock a UK release.
