No offense to anyone that is French but good God that shit looks awful splattered all over my beautiful Blu-ray cases. Warner doesn't often have French on the cases but Sony does and Fox does. The few BDs I ahve gotten from trades from US people look much nicer...just English, the way it should be. Just had to get that off my chest.

By the way i am french and i am not offended. Personally i don't care that much about the packaging . I care much more about what is on the disc i.e. great pq and aq. |

Well i am french Canadian and as long as you stay polite you won't see my tough side. Some people here in the Province of Québec would'nt appreciate calling french writing shit but ...what are you gonna do.

I agree, but like has been said Amazon.com and you'll save some $$ too... Just have to be careful sometimes because the content on the discs can vary, for example, the first harry potter you would get the Americanized 'sorcerer's stone' with fewer audio tracks vs. the real 'philosopher's stone' that was had in Canada and the rest of the world.

I always thought Canada could benefit from Japanese style spine cards, totally removeable so the very very few French-Canadians who don't speak english can have their francophile way, and collectors don't have to have the artwork soiled by yet another unnecessary addition

To be fair many come from a land where 'you're either with us or against us' and don't often see the cultural mosaic you and I enjoy, but rather a large melting pot with the burners turned to max...

My god you just realized that. Bilingual packaging has been around on DVD in Canada for years. I personally hate it and if I get the opportunity to get a packaging that is fully english I jump on the occasion (it's a purist thing I guess). But hey, what can you do, that's they way it is. Like someone else said its the inside that counts. Besides most of the time, the french title is tiny. BTW - Warner Bros products in Canada have bilingual covers as well. Some studios had developed the flip cover with one side english the other french but I see fewer of those on DVD and have seen none for BR.

It's not the fact that it's french, it's that it's ugly and redundant Seriously how many people in Canada ONLY speak French? As in they don't understand a lick of English. Surely this tiny minority can be served with the spine card solution I don't want to see anything but the original poster art on disc covers myself. No noggins, no quotes, nothing |

Meh... Im in Canada. I couldnt care less about the french text on my blus. Most of my movies have only english on them anyway.
Heck, if it werent for me reading this thread and checking the back of my movies i never would have known it was even there. Theres only 3 movies that actually have french text on the back in my collection. ![]() ![]() Its not that big of a deal. ![]() |
