I wonder if the BD format will support direct packet writing to disk. What this allows, is files to be copied without having to add and finalize another session.
My current backup program, Retrospect uses a form of packet writing to store data effectively and quickly during backups, however since its not a standard thing. I'm going to guess that the BD *hardware* will support most multisession functions like DVD and CD hardware, but not sure if by default the software will be able to understand non-session packet written data on BD-R media. |
