Default Bitstream vs PCM

Can someone help me out determining the difference between the two? I just recently ordered a Pioneer Elite A/V Receiver, model # VSX-81TXV, did I make the right decision?

Since you bought a receiver with HDMI inputs after you hook your player to the receiver via HDMI and run a another HDMI cable to your Display you will want to have PCM as your sound choice.

What Amon said....on your BR player you will set to output audio via PCM when using an HDMI cable between BR player & rcvr. Not sure why u opted for the Elite, u should have purchased a denon (i had an elite vsx-24tx which I just replaced w/denon avr-987...doubt I'll ever go back to elites).
good luck

i pesonally think the Elites have much better imaging, so for music AND home theater the Elite is better. Do a head to head comparison of Denon and Elites that are comparable on the same speakers and you will hear it! Denon is AWESOME tho, but to me, more for home theater only. On the topic, the VSX-9 series would have been better because the receiver could have done the decoding, which usually sounds better!
