Hdd drive in the ps3 - Blu-ray Forum

I have a question,

I want to chance the HDD in my ps3. I have a 60gb European ps3.

what are the things that i must look for? reading speed? cache? Sata? or what ever.

The PS3 enclosure isn't heat tuned for a generic 7200 so you may want to research the drives some to make sure it isn't a brand that runs hot.

The heat difference shouldn't be too great on any account anyway.

Just something to consider.

Pretty sure we'd have heard some complaints by now if someone was having trouble with that.

i'd be curious to see if anyone has added an ssd and if its any faster than a 7200 rpm drive.

Well, in general, the spec suggested by Sony is 5400 RPM. Plus, 7200 RPM 2.5" drives are pretty hard to find anyway.

I ended up getting a 250GB Samsung from Newegg.com for $114.

Im planning on getting a 3.5' and doing a mod to fit it into the ps3. A TB of course...
