Default How does Rob Enderle stay in business?

http://www.joystiq.com/2006/12/11/an...ormat-to-beat/

Back in December 2006 he says this:

Enderle points to brisk sales of the Xbox 360's $200 HD-DVD drive as a big reason why "there may be as many as ten times more HD DVD players than Blu-ray players in the market by the end of the year."

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/16/te...37f6fc&ei=5087

Now today he is quoted in the New York Times:

“The fat lady has sung,” said Rob Enderle, a technology industry analyst in Silicon Valley. “Wal-Mart is the biggest player in the DVD market. If it says HD DVD is done, you can take that as a fact.”

I guess it doesn't take much to be a technology analyst. You just talk a bunch of BS and people listen.

And if you read more of what that hack says, he says that BD is also dead because of HD downloads. Jeebus, what a tool.

I've always wondered with the news how much they report, and how much doom and gloom drives the news.

A few weeks ago, there was a prediction that the Dow was dropping 500 points, world coming to an end. Sure enough the Dow did drop around 300 points. Was it due to all these articles saying it WILL fall, or was it a correct prediction. I'm leaning towards 50/50 with the overhyping of news creating a self fufilling prophecy.

So if they think they can make this leap and beat a trend and almost create it and all of a sudden people think they are oracles, they are going to do it, because then people will read them more and take their word as gospel. This is why I always take 99% of what I read with an entire bottle of salt.

he is an infomercial. He is paid by the sponsoring company to say that X will win or Y will lose. He has neither research nor facts. So he does not need people to listen, just people to pay him so that he can push the word. MS was paying him to say HD DVD will win now they are paying him to admit HD DVD lost but not to buy BD because DL will be here soon.

I can't wait to see if he even reacts or responds when his sponsor Toshiba throws in the towel on HD-DVD any day now.

Rob, like most pundits, relys on you having no idea who he really is, just that he has an official sounding title and is on TV/in print

I think he is paid by microsoft, because he praised every steps that m$ took, and doesn't really care about HDDVD at all.

Enderle is well know for following MS. He trash talked anything Apple while MS was trying to head off their threat and now he's running defense for Toshiba by proxy.

He left hd-dvd a long time ago. He has been touting "HD" downloads. He is also singing the praises of his upconverting DVD player. Enderle's motto is:

"Anything but Blu-ray".

Enderle sits on the "advisory boards" (aka paid shills) for both MS and Toshiba
