They kind of have no choice seeing as how Blu-ray is the only one left standing.

Whenever I see a new thread with a different news source, it brings a . The story has reached the majority of the public, and word of mouth will take care of the rest.

Can we make an official thread on TOSHIBA QUITS? I have a hard time finding all the various threads on it.
Plus I hope to see this updated in the news on Monday.

This is getting a bit irritating. Toshiba has made no official announcements. I am personally sick of all these rumors. Why can't we wait a while until an announcement is made by Toshiba, Microsoft, Paramount, and Universal? Patience is the biggest virtue.

Seriously, they are not going to make an announcement on the weekend when business and the market is closed. Heck I even highly doubt we will hear anything tomorrow since it's President's Day. It's rare to hear any major announcements like this when the stock market is closed. Just be patient and when an official announcement is made I am sure our insiders will be the first to post something.

It's still speculation. I agree we should wait for it to come out of their own mouths. We'll post a screenshot of Toshiba's official declaration in a thread 1000 times to celebrate the victory.

I won't add to what has been said already on DUDs demise, I can't think of too many more ways to flog a dead horse.
However it will be interesting how the forum will change without the fromat war to keep the adrenalin high. For me, however, the next big thing will be to see all feature length movies only on BD50. Weather I can see the difference or not, it has always bothered me that some movies got the 30gig duel layer HD-DVD treatment, while the same movies got only a single layer BD25 - an excuse for some to keep DUD around hidden in the closet post mortum.

I got the same email tonight from psxextreme, and I have to say that I couldn't be any more happy for blu-ray than I am at this moment (well unless I opened my mail to find the original star wars trilogy on blu-ray and I didn't have to pay a penny, or wait another year for it)

Humans feed on speculation and gossip.

It is the way of our people.

Toshiba has NOT yet officially announced this. Its all speculation at this point. Granted, an announcement could come as early as this week. But for now nothing concrete. They are currently "reviewing their strategy."
