In all honesty, I'd recommend hooking the BD1400 into the analog (RCA) inputs on the back (RCA out for each speaker from BD player, to RCA ins for each speaker on receiver) . This will allow you access to HD audio content that is decoded on the player.

That's good advice, but it still wont solve his problem. I believe I have answered it in the HT main section - I appears that he has his front speakers connected to Front speaker B instead of A. (Even if he does what you say, unless speaker B is on - he will only hear his surrounds and his sub - every thiing eventually must be decoded to analog - we hear in Logarithims, we can't "hear" digital - its only 0's and 1's.)

Yeah, what Slec said.

Have an old school receiver and want Lossless audio??

...but if you stick to an Optical cable, it should be set on bitstream.

I'm well aware of the 'A' 'B' zone issues with this receiver, I recently replaced the receiver in this package with the 605. Good call none-the-less... just figured i'd recommend he get the lossless in its full glory.

The 800 only has video pass through over HDMI, you'd run into the same scenerio... unless you paid more than that for the 600...
