they will probably rebadge them as DVD players with HD DVD playback options... that's probably why they're taking them back. that's a lot of hardware they'd just throw away else.

Default 1080 up-conversion.....

Many people that I've talked to think that if they put a standard DVD into an up converting machine it will make the DVD into HiDef! I mean it will magically transform the disc into 1080p permenantly. Yikes, no wonder people are confused.

No warning yet from http://www.amazon.co.uk. If anyone buys one, that's going to be one really pi$$ed off customer*.

* assuming the customer is not a DUDster.

The point is that a few days ago, it was pointing to the Amazon HD DVD store and now it is pointing to the press release.

I hate the people on amazon.com. They are the most idiotic and mis informed consumers and are still hoping for a miracle.

My bro just came back from our local BB and said that Best Buy reduced the already small section of HD DVD and is no longer going to order new titles after March this year. He say more than 30 open box HD DVD players for sale.

Yeah, my local BB was definitely not restocking titles for at least the last month. It was beginning to get bare and is about to go from two shelves to one with consolidation.

Man, right about now I'd hate to be one of those poor sods who won Amazon's contest for a free HD DVD player and 100 HD DVD movies.
