Default Top Moments From The Format War

Worst Overall Moment: Payamount and Dreamless announcing HD-DVD exclu$ivity.
Comment: Damn near killed HDM

Best Overall Moment: WB Announcing BD Exclusivity.
Comment: But I heard the Harry Potter ratio was only 1.2:1???

Most Classless Moment: HD-DVD fanboys hacking BD's website.
Comment: Nice move guys, that really helped in the end.

Best Website During The Format War: Digitalbits.com.
Comment: Bill was right again. Maybe people will listen with an objective ear next time Bill??...nah.

Worst Website During The Format War: AVSForum.
Comment: Guess all of those "polls" showing red preference didn't mean that much. The arrogance of AVS'ers thinking they control the market was nauseating.

Funniest Moment: HD-DVD fanboys rationalizing low software sales by claiming all the $99 players sold were sitting under the Christmas Tree.
Comment:

What does everyone else think?

The way the HD DVD camp ignored the capacity issue while issues like interactive features (which few movie fans will ever use) were made to be of utmost importance. Sometimes I think those AVS guys were smoking the whacky tobaccy.

Im sorry worst website should be changed to betanews.com

Absolutely the most bullshit HDM website on the planet. Full of fud and straight up lies.

For me personally the best moments where moments where I'd give my take on the format war and how it would end up and was called things like idiot, moron, ignorant, was told i didnt know anything about the electronics industry, sony-lover, um..what else..

..yea haha. Wish I could send a quick PM to all those people on the various websites now. But, nah, I'll just take comfort in knowing I was right

I liked watching HD-DVD die a slow death. In retrospect, I was impressed with how fast everything went after the WB announcement.

They probably did give him a choice. Either retire and have a good resume when looking for another job, or get fired and cross Microsoft off his resume effectivly restarting his career from scratch.

Good list! But, I'd have to include the Amir science fiction comment in there too.

You hit them all on the nails on the head. Only one missing that I can see: (Amir declared BD-50 is just science fiction)

Nice list.
