Default Who else has OCD about weird little things?

For example. My TV volume needs to be on an even number or end with a 5. I can't have ANYTHING sitting on top of my TV stand next to the TV while watching it. All my blu's are in alphabetical order. I can't have ANY wires showing for anything. My PS3 gets dusted once a day. A few others but you get the jist. This thread should be entertaining, I know some of us have weird habbits

when i play poker all my chips have to be in stacks that are the same height. i have been known to bet beyond what i normally would (or that i know i should) just to get those extra chips out of there. infortunately i'm pretty good at poker which means i need to constantly restack and organize my chips which takes a little while sometimes.

You know that volume bar on the tv? I like it in a certain spot. If the volume bar includes a number, I only choose round numbers when adjusting the volume. It's nuts because on my old analog tv, it had no such bar. I cranked it up or down one level at a time as needed and never thought about it.

When my beerglass gets empty, I can't stand it, and I have to refill it. Then when it's full, I can't stand it, and I have to empty it. It's a vicious cycle!

I can't have my volume on anything but increments of 5. No "11", "12", "13", or "14" for me! I'm not concerned about wires showing, or neatness of wiring (God help me if I ever have to move everything), but once connected, I am very anal about not wanting to ever mess with them. I've got to swap a fully charged battery into my cell phones once they dip below half battery life remaining. I cannot pour myself a half glass/cup/mug of anything. It's got to be full, or I'll have none at all. I never run any application (on my Macs or PCs) full screen. I must always see desktop between/behind apps. When I stock my fridge with beer, the labels must all face forward. I can't walk away from the gas pump with an odd number of cents pumped. Gotta always round it up to an increment of 5, and I prefer it be an even dollar or .50. The list would be a lot longer if it weren't for the Zoloft.

With CD's DVD's and Blu-Rays, when they are in the case I turn them right side up so you can read them from left to right and/or the picture is not upside down.

I must have all my movies in alphabetical order, altho I take a strange tack when it comes to movies like 10 Things I Hate About You or 300 or 50 First Dates... those are at the top of the shelf organized by the starting #, so it would actually be 10 Things, 50 First Dates, 300, and of course, 10,000 BC will be after all of those, altho it'll come before 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and 20,000,000 Miles to Earth.

But the ABC organizing method is very important to me because it gives me comfort to know movies will be exactly where I expect them to. I actually bought a locking media cabinet so my kids would stop taking movies off the old rack and hiding them around the house. It's like the giant obelisk from 2001 sitting in my living room. (I also have the Toshiba HD DVD resignation press release taped up to it right now... hehehe.)

I can't believe there are people that DON'T have their CDs/DVDs/Games/Blu etc in order
WTF? I don't think it's OCD to want things to be neatly organized. I think it is just sloppy not to keep things in line...
Now, if you NEED them to be in a certain, illogical manner then...yeah, yer crazy

you want to volunteer to put my DVDs in alphabetical order???????

I keep all of the James Bond movies together, and all of the Westerns together (or try to ) and keep all of the music videos together.... but beyond that..... it's a hopeless cause.

Oh my gosh! A support group! I thought I was the only one! My wife constantly teases me about my compulsion to have movies in alpha-order. That's actually one of the things I LOVE about putting a new movie in the case - I get to rearrange! YES! Sad, but I enjoy that.

And the volume thing - same here! Got to be increments of 5. Don't know why that bothers me.....

I'm also the same when it comes to watching a movie - if I've missed the first part - even a minute or two - I won't watch it. I'll either watch the whole thing or none at all. Same goes with the end - I don't care how stupid the movie is - and I've seen some doozies - I have to finish it. My optimistic nature keeps telling me, 'maybe it has a really kick-ass ending!' Usually, I'm just deluding myself.

I can totally relate with many of these.

My 600+ DVDs are actually not in ABC order... they're ordered by date of release. Really weird, I know, but at least they're not sorted by Production Company! My wife refuses to agree to find a specific movie....makes me do it.

I MUST back in to parking spaces. I HATE backing out, as people like to ignore the reverse lights and the big RED moving XTERRA!!! ARRGGGHHH!!!

I do tech (security) work, and I don't like sitting in other people's chairs. I can sit in "common" chairs (like waiting rooms, conference rooms, etc). But personal chairs, I just can't be comfortable sitting in them. I'll stand up during tech work, even if it is taking a while.

For Home Theatre....I'm OCD about using "THE ONE REMOTE". I will go and reprogram THE ONE REMOTE rather than pick up the remote that came with the TV. If it's easier to use the Blu-Ray remote....uh-uh....I have to put that functionality into THE ONE REMOTE (which is a Harmony 880, btw).
