I really liked most of the movie, but I absolutely hated the ending. It was way too Hollywood-ish.

Yeah, Last Samuari was really good. I don't think I would rank it up there with Gladiator like you did but it was definitely a very good movie.

Awesome movie. I was actually surprised that Tom Cruise could pull it off.

What a journey! I am sure everyone here has either seen it or read the reviews. It ranks up there with films like Gladiator, 300 and Kingdom of Heaven. I never would have believed this possible from a Tom Cruise movie.

Boasting impressive PQ and AQ, The Last Samurai is a story that sweeps viewers into 19th century Japan with expansive character development, sweeping vistas, highly-detailed costume design, an emotional Hans Zimmer score -- all embedded in an immersive story that is well-acted by a dynamic cast, and brilliantly directed and edited. The surround sound mix was very aggressive and placed this viewer right in the center of the action.

The Last Samurai is a MUST-HAVE Blu-ray for every motion picture aficionado. The climax of the movie reduced me to a blubbering mass of flesh.

What did you think of The Last Samurai?

I thought it was alright.

I thought it was a great movie Tom Cruise can act at times. His other great role was the brother in Rain Man.

This is a must buy for any blu ray owner. One of Tom's best movies and Ken was outstanding!

Great transfer so the picture and sound are some of the best out there.

Glad to see that many of you liked The Last Samurai as much as I did. Reading this thread reveals that some people do not like Tom Cruise. However, the majority indicate that Mr. Cruise did a good job acting in this film. For me, actor Ken Watanabe (the samurai leader) was the star of the movie.

Good movie but very far from the level of Kingdom of Heaven or Gladiator.

Well, the HK release of The Last Samurai is perfect since it has lossless audio.

Ah, glad to see it wasn't just me I'll admit, it's been years since I've watched more than the first two thirds of the film, as the final act wipes me out every time.

It wasn't the tear-jerker for me that Man From Nowhere was, but I really enjoyed it. I was a little surprised how well Cruise pulled it off too. It deserves a much better BD than Warner gave it.
