![]() ![]() Holliston: The Complete First Season Blu-ray Holliston: The Complete First Season Blu-ray review As a big fan of Adam Green's Hatchet and Frozen, I was extremely interested to hear that he was making, of all things, a sitcom called Holliston. Unfortunately, I do not have Fear Net and was not able to check out the first season when it aired, but read lots of good reviews about the show. I just pre-ordered the Blu Ray and hope I get it before I go to Rock and Shock in MA next weekend since the entire cast will be on hand for Q&A and autographs. Anyone else looking forward to the release of Holliston? Anyone going to Rock and Shock? Last edited by MichaelR; 11-19-2012 at 05:55 PM. |

I'm in the process of transcribing an interview with Adam Green and Joe Lynch about Holliston. One point they made is that the Blu-ray, DVD and Netflix releases are important to them for expanding the show's fanbase. |

Since I don't have cable, I was unable to watch it from Fearnet. I found an episode for download and enjoyed it for what it was. It plays on sitcoms by using the same sorts of gags but by giving it a horror twist. Unfortunately, I wouldn't exactly call it spectacular. It's fun and has potential. Hopefully they do more with it next season.
As a local, I get the jokes. Adam is a bit of a celebrity around here because of his success. I'm certainly happy for him, but nothing he's done has really wowed me. If anything, he's a good personality to have represent horror in interviews and such more so than his original contributions. I'm not trying to shit on the guy. Just being optimistic in thinking that his best work has yet to show. Met him in person and was nice enough... though I did ask him about maybe doing the F13 reboot sequel (think, a mix of Hatchet and Frozen) to which he responded weirdly, by saying they should've gone to him to do the original, and in a rather presumptuous way... |

Amazon lowered the price the day AFTER release. Whack!
Anyway, I watched all six episodes last night and, as a fan of horror and Adam Green, I absolutely LOVED IT! They took the tired sitcom format and really livened it up with some clever writing and lots of consistent winks to the horror audience. Last edited by PrestonXI; 10-12-2012 at 12:48 AM. |

So...uh...kinda crazy story to share.
Last night, I attended the Rock and Shock convention in Worcester MA, which had a Holliston cast assemblage that consisted of a panel, script-reading and signing. Dee Snider was unable to make it due to being booked for the new Celebrity Apprentice, so an audience member got to play his part... ...and that person was ME. My girlfriend filmed the whole thing and has a bunch of pics I need to get a hold of, but needless to say, it was a rather surreal experience to sit next to Oderus on stage while he busted my chops, and on the other side, a myriad of guests popped up for bit parts (Bill Moseley, Sid Haig, Tony Todd, Derek Mears etc). I will tell you all right now that I make for an awful Dee Snider. I was so tempted at several times to pop in some improv, but the terror of upsetting anyone kept me at bay. I signed a release, so if all goes well, it should end up as a special feature on the season 2 release. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I really liked Laura Ortiz's character on the show. Some of the line readings in season one reveal how little experience the actors have in sitcom material.
I can only recommend the show to people with a deep knowledge of horror trivia and movies, who enjoy a lighter take on the subject. When they release the Blu-ray for season two, Image needs to provide an option to turn off the hideous laugh track. It's way over-used in the first season and becomes annoying after a while. |

I just got watching the first whole season on Hulu.com and totally loved it I wanna pick this up as soon as possible. It seems to be the only place available is online for around $25. Really like Adam Green and Joe Lynch. Plus that Corri chick is smoking hot! Love all the horror cameos in it, plus Hatchet and other Arie Scope stuff everywhere.

Like they have the Hatchet poster in their apartment, or the Jack Chop shirt the Laura character wears. Or even how he makes cracks at himself. Like the ep with Seth Green and him going Hatchet what a crap movie that was. I don't even think there was a script. Or how they break the wall all the time about stuff on how they feel.
