I admire you! Really...
I know there are some people who are still stuck with HD DVD and never try to change their paradigm.

To be honest no...I wanted HD DVD to win...

However I was technically format neutral in that I didn't own a player for either format for different reasons.

And then with Warner's announcement the writing was on the wall and I decided to just let things play out the way they would.

Personally even with Warner's announcement, HD DVD COULD have won. In the end though Toshiba destroyed themselves in this war. They simply just didn't want it as badly as sony. Sh*tty advertising/marketing for the titles they did have and the pretty affordable players doomed them from Day 1.

However I'm totally okay with Bluray winning (the fact that it isn't all sony helps) and I'm looking forward to building my High Definition movie library.

I was originally for AOD (HD DVD) since at that time, Blu-ray was really lacking in the specs such as no advance codecs supported. Once that changed and they took all of the best stuff AOD offered plus the extra disc space per layer and higher bandwidth it was clear we had our new format. This was what, 3 or 4 years ago.

But as far as support for the formats once they launched, it was Blu-ray from the beginning.

I was first pro Blu(before I got into high-def) because I was a Playstation lover. Then a friend talked me into HD DVD, so I got a HD DVD player in October of last year and picked up 47 titles.

Now I finally got that PS3 that I've been wanting for so long, and now I'm trying to rack up the Blu-ray titles.

I'm pretty glad I got to experience both as I consider myself a movie lover first, but happy one finally won(but hope it doesn't spoil to crazy deals too much).

I remember reading about it while it was still in development. I always backed Blu-Ray from the beginning.

I will admit, i started with HDDVD because the 360 add on was so affordable and i wanted something that would take advantage of my HDTV. I guess in the back of my head though I always knew id end up getting a PS3 and I did. Once i got that i stopped buying HDDVD's all together and was all out blu ray.

After hearing it's specs some years back, I was hoping it'd win.
After some consideration I opted to get the PS3 on the release date back in March 2007 with the intention of seeing if the free mailed copy of Casino Royale lived up to the hype and slowly easing into buying blu (Was never into DVD's and held off largely due to the new formats on the horizon).
As summer progressed I became more and more confident of Blu-rays success and have about 30-35 titles at the moment.

Oh, along with 6 games on disc and a few downloads.

Yep, bought a PS3 during launch. Had HDDVD's as well but always bought titles on both formats on Blu-Ray because I thought Blu-Ray would win.

i was with HD DVD at first , but only verbally supported it, once i started looking into actually buying a HD player back in october after watching a bluray at BB, i decided Bluray was a better investment. i couldnt fool myself anymore i knew hd dvd was doomed by then since i been watching over the format war since the beginning.

Me too, but also researched Blu-ray quite a bit before then. I knew that Blu-ray would eventually win as long as Disney continued to support it. Disney is NOT a company that has ever been accustomed to losing!

Like many here, I quickly realized that 50 GB capacity is the way to go, especially with all the studio and CE support behind it. I bought my PS3 about a year ago. I'm so glad HD DVD died on the vine.
