Default PS3 needs REAR USB ports.

GRRRR, I hate having stuff coming out the front. I can see the point of having front USB's but can't we have rear ones for permanent camera/HDD connection?

To top it off, they have 4 of the blighters.. Too messy imo.

turn your PS3 so theyre on the left?

disc drive would still be up front and easily accesible.

Use a USB hub, connect one wire, and put the hub behind your PS3. Problem solved.

If you have external Slim USB 6-ports, you can plug in one of the 2-4 USB ports and mount the external Slim at the rear.

I agree. I really wish they were in the back. At least 2 of them. But I've got my PS3 facing me now so the wires kind of all go behind in regardless.

Damn Rock Band for not having everything bluetooth.

+1

Plus, all of the connections (HDMI, MultiOut, Power, Optical and LAN) should be on a PCB that allows them to swivel, so that when the PS3 is vertical the wires from the back is well hidden.

I think they should have had 4 front 4 back.

Back for things that you wish to permanently have plugged in like a keyboard and or mouse and maybe external hard drive.

Front would be for usb hubs and other such devices.

I do not mind my USB ports. I'm just happy I got them. It would be better in the back but I don't mind the design that much. It's no different then having the USB ports in the front of my PC.

they should have included 1 USB port on the rear for people to attach hubs to. that way you can expand the system without a punch of wires sticking out.

Wireless USB in a year or 2 would be nice!

I totally agree. Probably one of the only design flaws of the PS3 (and no inferred port).

I have my WD External MyBook HD, Guitar Hero adapter, PSEye, and now Time Crisis 4 sensors. I have to remove one to use the gun. And yeah, looks messy up front.

Anyone ever try hooking up a USB multi tap adapter? I'm sure one of those are compatible with the PS3 (every other USB device is) then I could hide it in the back and then have at least only one cord sticking out the front.

i was kinda glad when they announced PS3 with 6 USB ports, 4 in the front, 2 at the back. now it disappeared. I prefer at least 2 at the back for my keyboard and mouse

Anyone try hooking one of these badboys up to a PS3?
