Now I can't vouch for that because I don't have the 360 version, but I have to say the PS3 version is quite good.
I hear from a lot of 360 owners that most of the games they play online have a lot of lag...especially Gears...

XBL is above and beyond the PSN, but I don't play online enough for me to feel satisfied for even playing online anyways...

maybe instead of paying for a length of time, how about paying for the service to be offered for "x" number of hours and it expires at that point?...maybe 2000 hours for 40 bucks and that covers over 5 hours a day for a year...

Xbox Live simply isn't that much better for newer games, and the advantages are going down.

Newer games have Voice Chat built in, and once you hit a critical threshold of number of gamers it doesn't really matter to the user if you have more, that's pretty much indifferent to you.

You will develop the friend community either way.

You can see people log in and out either way. You can look up friend's stats either way.

You can't go send them a text message mid game, but you will be able to soon, and most people I know don't do that anyway, it's too clunky mid-game.

During Gears of War time I'd agree with you, Live was clearly superior. Now however, that developers are learning to use PSN, it's not so clear-cut. It's still better, but not by nearly the margin it used to be.

If XMB-enabled and Home installed PSN is still free, the PSN might even eclipse Live.

Xbox Live on a meter? Imagine the uproar from the hardcore faithful who are on every day after school and all weekend. I can hear the squeals of outrage from here ...

Great idea though. Tax the little buggers I say!

The reports of 30fps on the PS3 version surfaced BEFORE Moore's move to EA Sports. In fact he vowed that the future PS3 versions of EA Sport games will run at 60fps. Will that happen, we'll have to wait and see.

maybe boost it to 4000 hours for 50 bucks then...

that's 10 or 11 hours a day for a year....I mean isn't it 50 bucks for a year subscription?..or is it for unlimited use?

It's not so much the fact that the game runs at 30fps, it's the fact doesn't run well at 30 fps. It was a very sloppily done port, with little to no regard paid to quality or what PS3 owners would be getting for their $60. Both NCAA 08 and Madden 08 were the same way, and both are almost completely unplayable. The Orange Box was another example of a pure lackluster effort, although not quite as bad as some EA Sports titles.

They need to get their act together or quit releasing on the PS3. I, for one, refuse to buy any more of their titles until they prove their act is together.

I like that Puzzle Fighter now has Voice Chat. Trash Talking during a puzzle game takes me back to the arcade days!

Even if the server is running slightly better, the fact that so many good
shooter games, more specifically Halo, make it so you have a bunch of
"Shooter friends" on your friends list, which in turn you have to factor
in when buying a game.....If you have 5 homies you always play with
your probably all gonna buy the same one
are you ****ing kidding me? They've supported voice for ages.

The difference being it's mandatory in X-Box Live games.

Not so much on the PS3. Where, if you wanted, you could use X-Fire as your In-Game communication method should you so desire.

Default Good article on third party games PS3 vs. 360

http://www.pcworld.idg.com.au/index....;4;fpid;772452

Since we have been talking about Grand Theft Auto and which version will be better, I thought it interesting that there are articles out there already discussing this.

I find it very interesting that not only this article favors the current and future PS3 for crossover games, but that an Microsoft employee saw the article and formulating such a quick response.

I got COD4 for both systems. Honestly the graphics are better on the ps3. Especially how someone earlier said the sniper is able to blend better on the ps3. The only advantage on the 360 I find is I don't have any problems connecting at all when I go online. With the ps3 it stays at the "downloading game settings" screen for a while. Sometimes it does go right away, but most of the time it does take a while. With the 360 COD is the really the only game I play online. All the rest I've played suck. I don't like Gears. I never had a good time playing it.

Yeah some people have obviously not played the opposing system.

People keep talking about Madden, fact is this article is looking at recent games to help predict soon and future games, and Madden was a "rush" port and we all know it.

Another big plus I like for the PS3 is you can use ANY bluetooth headset for ANY game. Hell you can still use the PS2 Socom USB headset for use with the PS3. Voice chat has been on PS3 since launch, this is not something they "added". Hell it was on PS2 before X-box, (socom).

The article makes sense to talk about the game only, excluding system benefits, which I think would even go more for the PS3. People want to talk live, I say what about Wi-Fi, standard Hard Drive, freedom to use any USB or Bluetooth headset, oh yeah and something about Blu-Ray?

I just rented Orange Box, and have to say valve fixed it with the patch...

Solid Frame rate, quick loading times, great graphics.. bump mapping is sweet.

This is being marked as a buy now, I'm about to enter raven hold in hl2, hl2 episode 2 im going against those auto guns, beat portal.

Course that patch was 128mb... huge patch aye....

This was a significant improvement over my pc version of hl2, hl2 episode 1, etc.. since I could never turn bump mapping on without getting 2 fps.

This will some interesting nights, *I decided to quit playing hl2 so I could beat episode 2, thats the only one I had not already beaten on my pc minus portal.

interesting. I was so down to get Orange Box for my ps3, but with the reviews about terrible frame rates and whatnot, I decided not to get it. But now that I'm so close to GTA IV, I might as well wait for that. I may pick up Orange Box sometime this summer... it's such a great deal. It makes me think this patch might justify the purchase now.

There are 5 games, 4 are single player and 1 is multiplayer.

Note that portal will screw with your mind..

*this next task is impossible*
