Default Set Up Help!!!!

I have just bought a PS3. I am trying to hook it up correctly, but have encountered a problem. Currently, I have my TV (Sony 1080p SXRD) hooked up by HDMI to my digital, HD Comcast cable box. Then from that box, I have an optical cable going into the back of my receiver, which is the Bose Lifestyle 38. The Lifestyle 38 has no HDMI inputs and only one optical input. How is the best way for me to get my sound from the PS3 to my surround sound, and keep it digital. There is an optical out on my TV, but when I run an optical cable from it straight into the Bose, I get no sound. So, I have always just ran the sound from my cable box through the optical and my dvd player was in the Bose unit, so no cables were needed there. Now that i have added the PS3, I am stumped. I know how to run regular audio cables, but I want to have digital sound.

Someone please help!!!

someday you will have to replace the bose thing.

probly why your not getting sound out from your tv is the "Audio out" is set to "Fix" on the tv, that or sometimes (on some brand tv's) if you have the speakers set to "ON" it will not output the audio, soo it should be one of those options.

How do you get audio from your cable box to the Bose if you don't use any wires (cables as you put it)??????

how many toslink ports does the bose have?????

I run the optical wire from the cable box to the Bose; however, this takes up my one optical in port. Now, I have no where to run sound in from my PS3 that is digital. Not quite sure what a toslink port is?? Sorry, please explain. Also, does an optical switcher provide just as good of sound quality as going straight into the optical in?? Thanks so much for your help. Not very good on this stuff, as you can tell.

Thanks for your help! Does the switcher provide just as good sound quality?

try not to start multiple threads to answer your one issue.

...and yes, the quality will be just as good.
