Nashville was picked up for a full season. Anyone still watching?

It's a really slow burn show with a lot of storylines that have yet to intersect. The only thing all four storylines have in common so far is Deacon and so far they've barely touched on his relationship with his niece or the other mayoral candidate.

Eventually I expect the young musicians' storyline to merge with both Rayna's and Juliette's storylines. Rayna and Juliette both looking new material and, if neither works with Deacon, they'll need a new guitar player. So I expect the blonde and her music to head one direction and her boyfriend's guitar to head in the other direction.

It's supposes to merge at some point in the upcoming episodes!

I'm excited for next week episode, Rayna and Juliette first interaction since the pilot.

They have touched alot on Deacon and his relationship with the Mayor. The Mayor was a alcoholic addict who was in recovery, part of his recovery is to sponsor another addict. His Addict was Deacon that's how they got the relationship. The Mayor has also apparently been lifelong friends with Rayna which s how Deacon and Mayor Coleman were introduced.

This show honestly reminds me a lot of old school Dallas. Its a good show and I hope it continues its good track.

Maybe restart the conversation to get people interested in talking about it, rather than just bumping the thread.

This show feels like it's about something and nothing at the same time with the way they deal (or not deal) with things.

I'll bring up a topic of conversation -- the sober companion turned business manager, is his 180 degree turn from compassionate human being into a power hungry douche a product of bad writing... or something completely planned as him being a predator who targeted Juliette from the start and will rip her off.

It was likely the writers wanting to switch things up from their initial plan, midstream.

My hatred of everything country music outweighs my love of Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere so I have not seen an episode. Is it more of a soap opera than about actual country music? Because if so I might give it a shot.

Yes and no.

It is pretty soapy. The depths which they go into the music business are pretty shallow and some of it awfully phony. Lots of plot contrivances to situate characters a certain way. It's also pretty low key throughout, without a WOW episode one week and a GARBAGE episode the next -- it's pretty flat without a lot of peaks and valleys.

There seems like there could be potential for more but maybe the network is holding them back. Or maybe there just wasn't a whole lot going into it to begin with. Sometimes it feels like two completely different unrelated shows with the politics and business on one end and the music scene on the other.

The acting is good though. Charles Esten is the breakout performer on the show.

The press release only mentioned a DVD release so it's unlikely to get a Blu-ray release. It's an ABC Studios release and ABC has done very few Blu-ray releases for their TV shows. I believe Once Upon a Time is the only current ABC Studios show that gets released on Blu-ray.

The show eventually shifts when they realize they're not doing the music scene or the political scene very well. Let's just say that right now through the episodes you've seen, Hayden Panettiere is the only one who knows what kind of show she's on.

I did end up dropping this, I couldn't stand how much of a soap opera it had become with
[Show spoiler]the closeted gay guy and the coma storyline
. I was enjoying the Deacon storyline (more or less) and the Scarlett/Gunnar romance, but that was simply not enough to keep me watching.

If I hear things get better then perhaps ill watch it on Netflix down the line, but for now I'm gonna use my time to watch better shows. For those still watching though, enjoy

Finally finished season 1. It definitely improved in the second half of the season. The supporting characters aren't annoying anymore. Gunnar has become one of my faves. Hayden Panettiere killed it all season long. I'm glad they brought in Chris Carmack, can't wait to see what they do with his character.

I'm now downloading the first 3 episodes of season 2 so I can finally be caught up.
