It says that it is using their new MULTI-PLATFORM engine. So, expect an Xbox 360 version as well. This probably won't be an exclusive, but enjoyable none-the-less!

I'm happy!

One thing I hope is that this will mean it won't be made into the last denominator ala 720p since its going for Xbox 360. Wonder what the frame rate would be like?

1080p Crysis would be killer!
Or at least Crysis with all the AF and AA on. The jungle is really ugly without AA.

I'd happily double dip.

I am secretly holding out for this on PS3. I know it's pure rumor at this point, but a new article appeared on PSU where there are some pretty definitive sounding direct quotes from a Crysis dev. He says the story would largely be different than that of the PC version, which would make it worth the double dip for some. On top of that, the devs have already shown off the CryEngine 2 on the PS3. Either way you'd think Crytek would come out with something on PS3.

Not possible dude. The PS3 is far far far inferior to the PC gaming machines.

I think you'll be lucky to get low settings.

Don't underestimate the PS3. The Cell is a completely amazing processor that developers are just barely starting to see the potential of. Many feared it at first because it was more complex and beyond their scope of understanding at the time, but now, they are learning and seeing what can be done. One of the largest benefits of the Cell is being able to off-load graphics needs from the GPU thus magnifying the graphics output greatly. Only reason we haven't seen it done is no developer has spent the time/money to do it yet.

no doubt. it was the same with the ps2. The games that came out at launch compared to the games that came out really late look amazing. (God of war, shadow of the colossus, etc) Can't wait till we see games use the ps3 to it's full potential

Well I am not going to get into the age old console vs PC battle, because I've seen how quickly these things turn into a 10 page pissing match. But I do believe that if done correctly, Crysis can be absolutely stunning on the PS3. The PS3 version is technically incapable of matching up to a $2000 PC with a 8800 GTX, 2.66 ghz core 2 duo, and 2 gigs of ram, but if the coders at Crytek are on their game, it can be damn impressive for a $399 machine.

Don't think you can compare them directly like that. On the PC side, the hardware isn't set so the developers have to accommodate low-end, mid-range and high-end PCs with varying capabilites and performance. The games rarely, if ever, take full advantage of the hardware (especially the high-end hardware) b/c of that. On the console side, the hardware usually isn't quite as capable as the high-end hardware on a PC but since everyone has the same hardware, they can optimize and wrench every bit of performance out of the console hardware. They usually get better and better the more familiar they get with the console also. The PC platform is always changing so it's doubtful they'll ever master the hardware or optimize for it fully before it's changed again.

I'm not saying that Crysis on the PS3 will look like Crysis on the PC. Just that the games on consoles often look very similar to the games on PCs even though there are differences in hardware/performance.

I really don't think the PS3 could do Crysis at 1080p myself. Not without some serious optimizations.

Normally a valid point, however, with Crysis, it was sold on the high-end, and always was aimed at the high-end. It's a beast for a 8800 gtx ultra to handle at 1920x1200...

Crysis looks really impressive but i'm sure it could look just as good as a PS3 game, Killzone 2 looks better to me graphically then Crysis *shrugs*

Just out of curiosity, have you played Crysis? Or just watched stuff of it on the internet?
