Which is pretty pathetic... but what more can you expect from a cheap system like that. Like I said before, it is basically its predecessor with motion controls. The graphics are sad now... in couple of years they will be absolutely laughable. Calling it a 'next gen system' is blasphemy.

But, it's what more people wanted. *shrug* I'll admit to being surprised by it, and well I really wouldn't be surprised if we see the successor in 2 years time [after all, it's not very common to see the games have a sequel on the same platform anymore].

I didn't realize any stores had begun taking pre-orders for Killzone 2.

GTAIV or SSBB I could see having pre-orders that high, but even MGS4 would have trouble reaching that number.

Since when does a game require 90+ in order to be a good game?

Furthermore, and I've said this before, Metacritic will have higher Xbox scores by default than PS3. This is because there are more reviewers for the 360 than there are for PS3.

If a game gets 100 100 100 100 100 70 for 360 and 100 100 100 100 70 for PS3, the 360's average is 95 and the PS3s is 94. Does this really mean that the PS3 version is worse?

This does work in the reverse. Terrible games will tend to have a higher score on PS3 than they do on 360...but nobody cares.

Seriously, go count. (Almost) every single game has more reviews for 360 than for PS3 on metacritic.

As a result of this actually, when the two scores are identical (Call of Duty 4, for example), this implies the PS3 game is actually a better game due to metacritic's natural handicapping of the score in favor of the Xbox.

None of this is metacritics fault, it's just how it works.

Much like attach rates, what metacritic does can not be applied cross platform.

Metacritic uses weighted averages, so the problem isn't as severe as you might think. I am not saying the problem is eliminated though. And the weighted average technique opens up a whole new world of problems. But I think it is better than using a simple average. And relying on metascores is most definitely better than relying on one review.

Everyone knows these websites are very biased and are made up of fanboys protecting their franchise of choice... usually always the 360. Just check the scores on Ornage Box & Oblivion... Oblivion was better on PS3 but scored lower. Orange Box is the same thing on both but because of timing it scored 7 pts lower... come on. And these clowns love to hate on PS3 exclusives.

Consider me not impressed.

Relying on your own perspective is better than relying on the output of a biased system.

Neither one of the links .. yours or mine .. take into account the bias and influence of the underlying reviewers being aggregated. As we saw with Kane and Lynch these scores often say as much about advertising dollars as they do about a game.

These scores show a different picture...the top 10% are even ... and overall the quality of the PS3 games are better.

The only thing to trust is your own xp as any reviews often leave out things that are important to some but not others. For example they rarely if ever mention the extra controller capability of the PS3 for sports games - which is a big plus for our kids when their friends are over .. but something a single person reviewer is usually oblivious to.

See, I'll disagree there.

The scores are worthless to me, the content of the review is what's important, and if you know the reviewer [and their own preferences], you can get a good guess out of it.

Scores are meaningless little contrivances to help magazines talk out out of both sides of their [expletive] to appease their advertisers.

Are Europe's numbers really that slanted against the Wii?
