Default Flight of the Navigator *Remake*

Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly Board Flight of the Navigator

http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=97448

It was first announced in 2009 that Walt Disney Pictures is planning a remake of their 1986 sci-fi adventure Flight of the Navigator. Today, Variety brings word that the studio has hired Safety Not Guaranteed's Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly to provide a draft and, potentially, have Tevorrow, a childhood fan of the original, direct.

Brad Copeland previously worked on writing the redo, which is still being produced by Mandeville partners David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman.

The 1986 original told the story of a 12-year-old boy who is abducted by an alien spacecraft in 1978 and reappears eight years later, still the same age and with no memory of what happened. NASA scientists discover a connection between the boy and a downed spacecraft and try to exploit the boy, who ultimately escapes with the ship and attempts to reunite with his family.

The movie grossed only $17 million when it was released but was later rediscovered on VHS, becoming a cult hit.

That's the only reason I'm for it.... Now let's discuss The Black Hole and the co-production with Paramount on Dragonslayer.....

Why not do a sequel? Why do they have to reboot it!

Flight of the Navigator Remake Moves Forward With a New Writer

Quote:
The long-gestating remake of the cult 1980s kid movie Flight of the Navigator is showing new signs of life. Joe Henderson has been hired to write a reboot the property, with a view to film a new version of the story under the Lionsgate studio. Henderson is best known as the writer and EP for Lucifer, and also worked on the Hulu adaptation of Stephen King’s 11-22-63. The Henson Company is also onboard to produce the movie.

I don't know how I feel with the guy behind Lucifer being on board with this.
Doesn't mesh well with me.

Ive wanted this movie to be remade for quite a while. I though Jeff Nichols would have been perfect.

I'd like to see a new version of this, but only if it keeps the original's innocence intact.

The UK or DE or whatever Blu-ray disc looks fairly good. Still could be a BD50. Even though Joey Cramer is in jail.
