Default Just got an Onkyo 805!!!!!

I just order a refurbished Onkyo tx-sr805 from shoponkyo.com for $639.99. I just got a 605 the other week, but have been considering taking it back to get the 705 until I saw this deal. I haven't had the opportunity of testing an 805 before, so I hope I'll be happy. Did I make a good move?

"How sweet it is to be loved by Onkyo..."

Don't it bring a tear to your eye? I cry every time something explodes in my living room!!!

Wait a tick... does that make every action film I watch a chick flick because I cry for joy of the sound quality???

Thumbs up Onkyo 805

I do have ONKYO 605 and I'm very happy with it. Amazing sound with Blu-ray movies Samsung 1400, with Panasonic Plama 42''. I will purchase a new ONKYO 805 or 705 next year. I bought mine from Ebay for 500$ (shipping and custom) very cheap price. Here and Canada it was at 1000$. You purchase is a very good one. Enjoy your ONKYO.

If insane power , big time sound quality and future proofing for 7 to 10 years is what you desire, then yes. You made the right call....

Very much so. Make sure you watch a really good action movie in PCM or if you have a player which can decode it DTS-HD. We Were Soldiers, Black Hawk Down, and The Patriot all sound really good. The DTS track on Close Encounters is insane, especially when the Mother Ship arrives, the bass is crazy.

How so? The 805 is one of the most future proof receivers available. Both feature wise and internally.

According to the rules on the back of my ManCard, you're safe. It says that crying is allowed in this instance.

Congrats! I myself just bought a 705 at Circuit City last night! The finally put it on sale to match Crutchfield's online price. I had to have it. That and my tax refund coming back made for a spend filled night.

When I signed up on their site, I got a special member rate that took it down to $649.99, plus they give new members a credit of $10, so that took it down to $639.99 . I was going to return my 605 for a 705 at Circuit city and it's $649.99 + tax lol. Now I just have to play the waiting game

Hmm...I'm in the market to upgrade my Harman Kardon AVR 245. What are the biggest differences between the Onkyo 805 and 605? Other than the look of it? I'm trying to justfy almost $400 price difference.
