I'm also one of those people that ALWAYS watches the whole movie, even if it's absolutely terrible. Having said that, I turned off A Scanner Darkly a little over an hour into the movie and exchanged it for something else from Blockbuster. I also fell asleep during The Hulk because the beginning was unbearably slow. When I woke up, he was already transformed into the Hulk, and I didn't care how it happened. I had borrowed it from my cousin, so I left it out for 2 weeks in case I wanted to watch it again, but I couldn't even force myself to watch it.
I also hated Wild Things with a passion. I've never been a Neve Campbell fan, but that movie was awful. After so many plot twists in the last half hour I was yelling at the TV "I DON'T CARE WHO GETS THE (effing) MONEY ANYMORE, I JUST WANT IT TO BE OVER!!!" BUT...don't feel sorry for yourselves just yet. My future twin-in-law used to work for a movie theater where a local radio station contest was held. The object of the game was to sit through Gigli over and over and be the last person standing...er...sitting. Pure torture for the participants! |

"Lost in Translation"
That movie was so over-hyped, and was about NOTHING. The performances were just terrible. Maybe I'm not intelligent enough to see it's value, but I suspect it is a good example of the Emperors New Clothes. The Emperor is really naked, and Lost in Translation really sucked. |

On the other hand, The Last Samaria got pretty positive remarks but nobody that it was a good representation of what thought thought of Japan at the time period. Only that it was an enjoyable fictional movie |

It was actually based on a 1980 Stephen King novel, so I guess he can't be directly to blame. Either way, it sucked pretty hard. All the Resident Evil movies rule, so don't knock on the video game movie's too hard. Although you are definetly entitled to your own opinion, and there are many video game movies that do suck (Doom, Silent Hill, etc.)

Probably "Epic Movie". Here's my review of it:
I didn't believe a comedy could be this bad until I saw this movie. I didn't believe a comedy could fail on almost every level until I saw this movie. Honestly, it's the equivalent of watching little school children repeat silly fart jokes they've just heard; only you're watching it on the big screen. I've tried to like this film and see past its countless faults, but it's so spectacularly bad it's impossible to even be a guilty pleasure. Even if the plot was even slightly comprehensible, the actors don't seem to know what they're doing, or where they are, or even why they've allowed themselves to appear in such shameful trash. What makes it even worse is that it's not actually epic at all. It clearly has a very low budget if you compare it to the actual movies it so terribly tries to parody. I laughed at maybe 3 of the jokes, but I can honestly tell you right now that not a single one of those three didn't have something wrong with it. Not one. They had so many opportunities to make these jokes work, but they choose the absolute opposite way to go about doing it; it's as if they're actually purposely trying to ruin what might've been a decent joke by choosing exactly what's wrong for it and the scenario they've put it in. There is no humour in Epic Movie; the "2 out of 6 writers from Scary Movie" just rely on mind-blowingly stupid, pathetic parodies to "entertain us", which are nothing like the parodies in the Scary Movie franchise. Those were actually funny. It's like they've taken the most extremely straight-forward, obvious aspects from well-known movies, added an unprecedented level of stupid childish homophobic potty humour and tried to make us laugh by showing the characters from Narnia, The Davinci Code and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory dancing to hip-hop music. Hilarity doesn't ensue. To add on to it, the parodies are barely even parodies. They're just merely terrible imitations of movies that prove no purpose other than to show that these idiots can imitate something. Badly. When you can't even successfully parody something that actually deserved to be made, THAT's when you have a problem, and THAT's when you're faced with something like Epic Movie. D- - Trust me, I'm being nice. |
