For some strange reason, my Pioneer receiver is no longer detecting my subwoofer. I tried using a different subwoofer but it wasnt detected either so I'm quite certain the problem lies with the receiver. I'm praying that its just a setting that might have been accidentally changed but I fear that it might be a bad circuit board. If anyone on here can help me with this I would really appreciate it. Here is an idea of my gear/settings.
Pioneer VSX 1020 receiver Polk Audio RM6880 subwoofer Speakers set to "small" Crossover set to 80hz Phase set to "normal" Input set to "Direct" EQ set to "On" |

did you go in to the manual speaker setup and turn them back on? I feel like my 1121 did something like that when I made changes and I had to put it back.

Yes I did I manually enabled subwoofer but it still produces no sound out if it. Unless someone has another suggestion that I have not thought of it looks to me like the input jack is messed up on the receiver why else would it not detect it?

Steelmaker,
Have you tired turning the receiver off at the mains, and disconnecting all cables? If no joy, your last resort before contacting dealer/Pioneer is to perform a factory reset by (you will loose all stored information): Quote:

One quesiton. When you say disconnect all the cables are you suggesting to disconnect all of the speaker wires as well? That will be a bit of a pain. |

Yes I was referring to disconnecting all cables inc. speaker cables, as you said, it probably will be a pain, but its worth a try. By the way, how do you send the audio to the receiver? Over HDMI as bitstream? |

I'm using a PS3 as my blu ray player. Yes the audio is through HDMI but I have my PS3 set to "PCM Linear" because when I set it to bitstream I tend to lose portions of audio in places.

Thats interesting. Has it always been like that? Is your firmware on the PS3 up to date?

There is no difference in sound as you said. I am just wondering if your receiver does have some problems, because bitstreaming should result in identical sound to sending PCM to your receiver. Try switching to bitstream if not then try factory reset, if that doesn't resolve anything, I think you may need to get a new one. |
